How to Get Shards in Prospecting

If you want to get more shards in Prospecting, there are several easy and fun ways to do it. Shards are important because you can use them to buy powerful boosts, complete quests, and progress faster in the game.  Here’s a simple guide on how to get shards quickly and make the most out of them.

    Shards in Prospecting

Shards are a special currency in Prospecting, shown as a little pink crystal at the bottom right of your screen. You can earn them by digging or completing quests, and they’re mainly spent on totems, potions, and unlocking ring slots in your Prospector’s Kit. There’s no way to buy shards with real money, which makes them extra valuable. Every shard you get, you’ve earned through gameplay.

    1. Take Advantage of Meteor Showers

Meteor showers are the best way when it comes to farming shards. Not only do they double your luck, but every time you fill your pan and wash it during a meteor shower, there’s a chance you’ll get extra shards anywhere from 0 to 8 at a time.

Just dig as normal, fill your pan, wash it in the water, and check the bottom right of your screen. Sometimes it’s only a couple of shards, sometimes it’s much more. The key is to make sure you’re out digging while the meteor shower is happening.

    2. Use Shards for Powerful Items

Shards aren’t just for show. You can spend them on:

    • Luck Totems (double luck)
    • Strength Totems (double strength)
    • Merchant’s Potion (100% sell boost for 20 minutes)
    • Greater Luck & Capacity Potions from the Alchemist

With luck and strength boosts together, you’ll notice a massive difference in your mining speed and rare ore drops.

    3. Complete Quests for Big Rewards

Quests are another great way to earn shards. You’ll find them by talking to NPCs around the map. Not every NPC will give you a quest, but many will.

Some quests are simple, others might ask for rare ores like mythics. The harder the quest, the better the reward. After finishing a quest, talk to the NPC again some give you a second quest.

    4. Redeem Codes for Freebies

Some codes still work and can give you shards, boosts, and money. A few examples to try:

    • Update1
    • Millions
    • Sorry2
    • Volcanic (most recent, very good rewards)

Not all codes give shards directly, but the boosts can still help you earn them faster.

    5. Complete Your Collection

In your hotbar, there’s a Collection Book. Every time you discover a new ore, you can claim shard rewards from it. Early in the game, this is a huge source of shards since you’ll be finding new ores all the time.

Higher rarity ores give more shards, so if you can, try hunting down mythics, though they’re very rare. Completing your index is also a long-term goal that pays off.

    6. Watch for Events and Mythic Spawns

Special events like the Solar Flare boost ore size and modifiers. Rarely, mythic zones can spawn with a huge circle marked on the map. Only one person can get the mythic, so if you’re in a public server, you’ll be racing others. If you want a guaranteed shot, a VIP server helps since you won’t have competition.

Decided that degrees were as useful as extra lives in a Mario game-totally unnecessary! I’m diving into the extravagant universe of my favourite game, Assassin’s Creed, which lets me roam the world without actually paying for plane tickets. Hodophile by nature and aspiring to get lost in Hang Sơn Đoòng cave in Vietnam someday!
