The Royal Guard Armor is one of Gothic’s most sought after armors. While it’s not a high tier armor, it’s noticeably better than early tier protection and can carry you through tougher encounters. This guide explains exactly how to reach the Mountain Fortress, where the armor is located and the key location to unlock the chest along with its lockpick combination. You’ll also learn the key steps required to obtain the armor, hidden fireplace entrance and the chest location where the armor is stored.
Mountain Fortress Location
Navigate to the marked location shown on the above map image to reach the Mountain Fortress which is east of Orc Town. A Golem would be guarding the bridge to the Mountain Fortress, you can easily defeat the golem by using weapons that deal blunt damage.
Royal Guard Armor
The Royal Guard Armor can be found inside a locked chest which is located at Mountain Fortress private quarters. And the key to unlock the chest is hidden inside another chest which is located at the top of the tower.
Reach the Tower’s Top
For this next step, you need to reach the top of the tower. Head right after you enter the Mountain Fortress to reach a room with stairs. Climb the stairs and follow them until you reach the Library.
Then solve the bookshelf puzzle in the library to unlock the hidden passage through the fireplace. Go through the hidden passage and stick to the path, you’ll reach the Lord’s chamber which has a huge broken fortress wall to the right.
Go past the room through the doorway and continue climbing the stairs until you reach the end of the stairs. If you stand at the edge of the wall, you’ll get an option to climb the wall if you have the climbing skills. Climb your way up to the above level.
After you reach the next level, continue climbing the stairs to reach the top of the tower. You’ll find a locked chest at the top, and you need to unlock the chest to obtain the key.
Chest Lockpick Combination
To unlock the chest, follow the given below step-by-step lockpick instructions-
- Move the 2nd plate to the right 5 times.
- Then move the 6th plate to the left 6 times.
- Select and move the 1st plate to the left 2 times.
- Then move the 3rd plate to the left 2 times.
- Now move the 4th plate to the right 4 times.
- Then move the 5th plate to the left 4 times.
- Move the 6th plate again to the left 6 times.
- Then move the 4th plate again to the right 3 times.
- Now move the 2nd plate to the right 2 times.
- Then move the 3rd plate to the left 2 times.
- And finally move the 6th plate to the left once.
Rewards
Unlocking the chest will give you the following rewards – Chest Key, Sword of Victory, Ring of Enlightenment along with few other essentials.
Royal Guard Armor Chest Location
Once you obtain the chest key, return to the Lord’s chamber on the lower level and head through this doorway to reach the private quarters.
You’ll find the chest in a room that you can now unlock using the key that you found earlier and collect the Royal Guard Armor.
