Are you tired of hunting for basic resources in Subnautica 2? Well it’s time to start farming. Growbeds are one of the most useful mid-late game unlocks that let you grow plants on your base for a steady supply of basic resources without relying entirely on exploration. The only problem is that many players completely miss them during progression because the blueprint location is easy to overlook. This guide shows you how to get growbeds, unlock farming and start building a reliable crop setup.
Obtaining Growbeds Blueprint

To obtain the Growbeds blueprint, you need to progress the story and reach the Alien Base. If you look carefully, the roof and the ground contains a growbed on each of them.

Scan both the growbeds and you’ll unlock the blueprint for Growbeds and plantables.
Building Growbeds

Then use the Habitat Builder to start building Growbeds on the roof of your base. These are external growbeds, so you can’t build them inside your base or even on the ground and it is only possible to build on roofs.
Planting Resources

After you’ve built your growbeds, select any available plantables under the cultivation section using the habitat builder and plant them by aiming at the growbeds. With this setup, you’ll never run out of basic resources again.
