Erdrick’s equipment is the strongest gear set available within the title of Dragon Quest 1 HD-2D Remake. Each piece of gear offers powerful stats and unique effects that make the end-game much more manageable. If you’re trying to get that Erdrick’s Legacy achievement, which requires collecting all of the gear that belonged to Erdrick, here’s where you find the two most iconic pieces: Armour and Sword.
How to Get Erdrick’s Armour
You can get Erdrick’s Armour by defeating the Knight Aberrant in Damdara.
Damdara sits in the southwest corner of the world map. To find the fight, enter the small alcove near the centre of the area — just past a few poison tiles. Once you defeat the Knight Aberrant, the Armour will appear as a glowing spot in the same alcove.
Tips for the Fight:
- This is one of the tougher mini-bosses found in the game. To make the encounter smoother
- Get to at least Level 30 before trying this.
- Equip strong defense gear such as the Dragon Mail, Phantom Mask, Dragon Shield, and Siren Sword.
- Open with Dodgy Dance and keep it active to reduce incoming damage.
- Keep HP above 210, and closer to 275 when under a defense debuff.
- Use Moreheal often and conserve MP for healing and buffs.
- Concentrate on consistent attacks instead of flashy abilities.
- When you win, take Erdrick’s Armour from the sparkly spot that appears.

- Defence: 118
- Effects: Regains some HP at each step; Grants the unit immunity from swamp or electrified tiles’ damage; Reduces all spell and breath attack damages.

How to Get Erdrick’s Sword
Erdrick’s Sword is located deep within the Dragonlord’s Castle, which is the game’s final dungeon.
How to Reach the Sword:
- Start from the throne room and go down the stairs beneath the throne in 1F.
- Head down the path to B3, taking the top-left exit of the three options.
- On B4, take the middle exit and head to the center of B2.
Sword Stats and Effects
- Attack: 140
- Effects: When used as an item in a battle, it unleashes a powerful whirlwind that damages all enemies — and can be used infinitely.
