How to Get Chaliceweed in Monster Hunter Wilds

Chaliceweed, a highly sought-after Rarity 5 material in Monster Hunter Wilds, poses a special challenge for hunters interested in its rich trade value. This rare substance, essential to the procurement of rare goods, demands certain tactics and areas to be found. This guide will tell you the best ways to get Chaliceweed, from optimizing gathering quantities to leveraging trade opportunities, so you’re fully prepared to get this rare treasure.

How to Get Chaliceweed

Chaliceweed is a special item in Monster Hunter Wilds and is considered quite rare, falling under Rarity Level 5, the highest tier. This makes it a bit tricky to find. To boost your chances of gathering more Chaliceweed, you can use the Geologist skill, which increases the number of times you can collect items from gathering points. You can get this skill by equipping the Geology Jewel [1] or using Geology Charms. It’s a useful way to maximize your haul and improve your odds of finding this rare material.

Finding Glass Algae

To find Glass Algae, head to underwater areas like the Scarlet Forest, especially in Zones 2 and 13. When you gather Glass Algae, you’ll usually pick up Gobletweed, which is more common, but if you keep collecting, you’ll have a good shot at getting Chaliceweed too.

To boost your chances of finding rarer materials, wear gear with the Geologist Level 2 skill or equip charms that have the same effect. Another trick is to join an Optional Quest after you’ve gathered all the Glass Algae in the area, this resets the algae, so you can go back and harvest them again. It’s a simple way to speed up the process and get more of what you need.

Fishing Gastronome Tuna

Another way to get Chaliceweed is by catching Gastronome Tuna, though the chances are pretty low. If you want to try this method, head to Scarlet Forest Area 17. Using Tuff Joint Bait will make it easier to catch the fish, you can unlock this bait by completing a side quest in the same region.

Before you start fishing, don’t forget to set the environment to “Plenty” to increase your odds. Just keep in mind that fishing for Gastronome Tuna is slower than gathering Glass Algae, so you’ll likely need to catch quite a few before you get the rare item. It’s a bit of a grind, but it’s an option!

How To Use Chaliceweed

Once you’ve gathered some Chaliceweed, you can trade it with Rove, a trader in the Iceshard Cliffs region. He offers a variety of valuable items in exchange for your Chaliceweed, including:

  • 1x Chaliceweed for 1x Whetfish Fin
  • 1x Chaliceweed for 3x Truffle du Conga
  • 1x Chaliceweed for 2x Blango Pelt+
  • 1x Chaliceweed for 2x Monster Broth

These items can come in handy throughout the game, so it’s definitely worth collecting Chaliceweed whenever you can.
