Carbon Ore is an important resource in Dune: Awakening, especially if you’re aiming to craft stronger materials like Steel Ingots. Whether you’re upgrading your gear or working on base improvements, getting your hands on Carbon Ore is a must. In this guide, we’ll walk you through where to find it, what tools you need to mine it, and how to use it once you’ve collected enough.
How to Get Carbon Ore

If you’re looking to gather Carbon Ore in Dune: Awakening, your best bet is to head over to Jabal Eifrit Al-Janub or Hagga Rift. These areas have plenty of Carbon Ore piles, but don’t expect to see them out in the open. Instead, search near the base of large rock formations or along cliff sides, that’s where they tend to show up.
To mine Carbon Ore, you’ll need at least a Cutteray Mk2. If you don’t have one yet, you’ll first need to research it, which costs around five Intel Points. Once unlocked, you can craft it at your Fabricator back at base, using ten Iron Ingots and seven EMF Generators. Once it’s ready, you’re all set to start harvesting Carbon Ore.
The Cutteray Mk.2 is great for mining Carbon Ore efficiently, you’ll get a decent amount from each boulder you break. If you upgrade to a higher-tier Cutteray, you’ll be able to collect even more Carbon from each deposit. Plus, if you level up your Planetologist skills, you’ll boost your yield even further, making the whole process more rewarding.
How to Use Carbon Ore
To make Steel Ingots in Dune: Awakening, you’ll need to use a Small Ore Refinery. Just pop in 4 Carbon Ore and 1 Iron Ingot, and it’ll give you 1 Steel Ingot. It’s a pretty straightforward process just gather the materials, process them through the refinery, and you’re good to go.
