The side quest Tearless Farewell in Where Winds Meet is quick and easy to pass up. It relates to the grief surrounding Tier III of the One Leaf, One Life event, combined with the rumors and a misplaced keepsake. In order to successfully complete the quest you will need to do thorough exploration of the area and select the right dialogue choices in order to succeed. This guide details how to locate the Blush, and how to complete the quest correctly from beginning to end without skipping any of the necessary steps.
How to Start the Quest
Walk up to South Gate Avenue that’s near the southwestern Pier Area in Kaifeng. You will find two women standing near the stairs and speaking loudly accusing a man named Zhong Wenping of being unfaithful to his deceased wife. You can speak to the women and hear about their claims made toward the man. They insist they’ve found proof (the Blush) and hint that it came from inside Zhong Wenping’s stall.
Speaking With Zhong Wenping
Zhong Wenping is at his stall on the opposite side of the stairs, clearly distressed over the death of his wife, Zhou Juan. When you talk to him for the first time, you’ll be allowed to either question him calmly or accuse him directly. Whichever option you choose, he firmly denies the rumors. If you ask about the Blush, he explains that it once belonged to his late wife, not to any lover.
After the initial conversation, talk to Zhong Wenping again. At this point, a purple “Give” prompt appears, showing that he needs the Blush (Rogue). Since you don’t have it yet, it becomes clear that the women you spoke to earlier are involved.
Recovering the Blush
Return to the two women near the Pier. Activate Windsense by pressing V to determine who is carrying the item—the woman on the left has it on her. Once confirmed, use Celestial Seize, then press F to take the Blush from her without confrontation.
Bring the Blush back to Zhong Wenping and give it to him. A short cutscene will play. Once it finishes, he can still be found sitting at his stall.
Dialogue Choices That Matter
Speak to him again and allow him to talk fully by choosing “Listen to him” (the bottom option). Do not interrupt. After that conversation ends, interact with him one more time and select “Console” (the top option).
Once this final exchange concludes, Zhong Wenping will thank you sincerely, and Tearless Farewell will be marked as complete.
