Climbing ropes are an effective way of ascending to higher ground in Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen. While playing the game, you will have at least one climbing rope, but you can collect others as you play through the game. As you cannot dismantle the rope after placing it, you should be careful about using it. In this guide, we will show you where to find climbing ropes and how to use them to reach new areas.
All Climbing Rope Locations in DD2: Dark Arisen
You can obtain 3 climbing ropes as you start the expansion. The first one will be given to you when you start the game itself, but there are two others to find around the map. You can get them pretty quickly, so it is recommended to hunt for them early in the game if possible.
Climbing Rope Location #1

There is a rope to find inside the big castle that is located in the northern region of the map. Go to that fortress and get in through the gate found to the west of the Mountain Stronghold. You would reach this area as part of the main story quest. Climb the stairs that are behind the rocks, but do not go inside the building on your right. Rather, walk along the rampart, till you get to the first snowy tower. Inside this tower, you will find a climbing hook on the right side.
Climbing Rope Location #2

There is also another climbing hook which can be found inside the Underhill Passage. In order to do so, go up the passage through the road, and then enter the tunnel. At the fork, you can loot the objects available on the right if you like, but you should continue along the other route.

Go further along the tunnel until you come across a ladder going downwards. Descend it and keep moving down until you see another climbing hook. You can also destroy the gate next to you to access the passage.
How to Use the Climbing Rope
Having a climbing rope in your possession, locate the tether hook post on the map and go there. Select a climbing rope from your inventory and begin aiming at the post. You will see the aiming line on the screen, which you must aim to change its color to blue.
The next step is pressing the button in the lower right part of the screen to attach the hook, making the rope fixed in place, just like a ladder helping you climb higher up to another area.
It should be noted that once placed, you cannot delete a climbing rope, so you should consider the necessity of such an item in certain places. There are some locations you can easily get to without using a climbing rope, while others would require one.
