By joining the Coven of witches in Hawezar, players can get new Witchcraft Powers in Diablo 4 Season 7, also known as the Season of Witchcraft. These abilities are divided into three schools: Growth & Decay, Psyche, and Eldritch. Each school offers special skills to improve your gameplay. There’s also a fourth hidden school for which you’ll have to explore a lot, it is known as Lost Powers. Read on to find everything you need to know about Witchcraft powers in Diablo 4.
Understanding All Witchcraft Powers in Diablo 4
The new primary mechanism for Season 7 is witchcraft. Six Witch Powers are available for you to equip: five common powers and one special power. Like Vampiric Powers in Season 2, these abilities, which draw on Hawezar’s evil magic, might enhance your character builds.
There is a specific tab in the Character window for managing your Witchcraft Powers. Although you can enhance your inventory directly, you must visit the Coven’s Altars at the Tree of Whispers to unlock these powers.
Schools of Hawezar
The 25 Witch Powers in Witchcraft are separated into three primary schools, along with a set of uncommon Lost Powers. Every school concentrates on particular themes:
1. Eldritch Powers (7)
Offensive abilities that make use of polymorphy and destructive energy. Their icon’s purple swirl/fire serves as a defining characteristic. Invoking bats, inflicting elemental damage, and setting off explosions are a few examples of it.
WITCHCRAFT | EFFECT |
Firebat Servants | A deadly swarm of Firebats attacks enemies every 3.2 seconds, dealing 20%–15% total Fire damage in a single strike. Rank 10: At higher ranks, enemies struck 5 times by your Firebat Servants are Stunned for 3 seconds. |
Abyssal Resonance | For every 250 Resources spent, trigger an explosion that deals 400% Shadow damage. Each subsequent explosion triggered within 10 seconds of the previous one increases both the size and damage by 130%, stacking up to 3 times. Rank 10: The third explosion pulls enemies towards you before detonating. |
Wave of Woe | When you damage an enemy with your skills, release a Wave of Woe that deals an additional X Shadow damage and echoes this damage to all other nearby enemies of the same type. Rank 5: Each time the damage is echoed, it increases by 15%, and it is guaranteed to echo at least 5 times. The echo may strike the same target multiple times. |
Purging Touch | Eldritch Effects X increases damage against Headrotten. Rank 10: This damage bonus now applies to all monsters. |
Shaken Soul | Eldritch Effects apply Vulnerable to enemies for X seconds. Rank 10: Damage from Psyche and Growth & Decay Effects will also apply Vulnerable, but at half the duration. |
Hex of Flames | Lucky Hit: You have up to an X chance to apply Hex of Flames, which deals 40% additional Fire damage each time you damage the target. Rank 7: When you land a Critical Strike, Hex of Flames explodes, dealing damage to all nearby enemies. |
Doom Orb (unique) | An ominous orb of pure Eldritch energy orbits you, dealing 400% Fire damage to any enemy it touches. The Doom Orb may also launch itself at distant enemies before returning. Rank 5: Kills or damage to Bosses increase the orb’s damage by 5%. Once it reaches 100%, the orb explodes, dealing 5,200 damage to nearby enemies before reforming 3 seconds later. |
2. Psyche Powers (7)
Skills that control the mind and spirit that are defensive and debuff-focused. The pink star on their iconography helps you identify their powers. These obstruct enemy assaults, lower incoming damage, and create barriers.
WITCHCRAFT | EFFECT |
Life Link | Automatically connect your life force to up to three nearby enemies. A percentage of the damage you take is shared with the linked targets as physical damage. Cannot link to enemy players. Rank 15: For 10 seconds after using a Defensive, Macabre, or Subterfuge skill, any damage shared with linked enemies will be a guaranteed Critical Strike. |
Hex of Shattering | Damage dealt by your Witchcraft Effects applies Hex of Shattering to enemies, reducing their damage dealt by X for 5 seconds. Rank 8: When any Hex Effect is applied to Headrotten, all damage dealt will be guaranteed Critical Strikes for 5 seconds. |
Aura of Misfortune | Nearby enemies have a X chance to have their attacks interrupted. This effect does not apply to bosses. Rank 5: Aura of Misfortune increases your Movement Speed by 5% and slows enemies by 30%. |
Aura of Lament | When you first strike an enemy, it and other nearby enemies are afflicted with an Aura of Lament, reducing their speed by 70%. For each enemy within the Aura of Lament, you gain 3 Primary Resource per second. If the initial enemy dies, the Aura of Lament is transferred to another nearby enemy, maintaining its duration. Lasts for X seconds. Rank 15: Only one enemy can be affected at a time. This can occur only once every 30 seconds. |
Vengeful Spirit (unique) | Every 19 seconds, a Vengeful Spirit Servant appears for X seconds. While active, all damage you take is redirected to the spirit. The Vengeful Spirit Servant deals 750% damage. Rank 5: When the Vengeful Spirit’s life is fully depleted, it rushes towards up to 8 enemies, dealing 2,000 Shadow damage. |
Twilight Warding | Every X seconds, gain a Barrier that absorbs 100 damage for 5 seconds. Rank 12: While Twilight Warding is active, it reflects enemy projectiles. |
Force of Will | When you kill an enemy, your next Overpower deals 3.15% increased damage, stacking up to 100%. Rank 4: The damage bonus applies to your next two Overpowers instead of just one. |
3. Growth and Decay Powers (7)
Both healing and destructive powers. The green skull on the interface makes them simple to identify. They can heal you as you deal damage, call forth poisonous frogs, and boost the strength of your buddies, minions, and servants.
WITCHCRAFT | EFFECT |
Poison Frog Servant | Summon a Poison Frog Servant that attacks enemies, inflicting Poison that deals 150% damage over 3 seconds. Upon death, the frog detonates violently, dealing X Poison damage instantly to nearby enemies. This explosion is guaranteed to Critically Strike. Rank 5: The Poison Frog’s attacks pull enemies towards it and Taunt them for 1 second. |
Soul Harvest | Drain the life force of nearby enemies each time you use a skill with a cooldown, increasing your primary stat by 3% per enemy for X seconds. Rank 9: Soul Harvest’s duration remains active as long as enemies are nearby. |
Hex of Whispers | Damaging an enemy applies Hex of Whispers, causing them to take X Shadow damage the next time they are hit. The hex then jumps to another enemy, up to 6 times. Hex of Whispers can only be applied once every 5 seconds. Rank 7: After bouncing to 6 enemies, the hex returns to you, granting 15% Fortify and cleansing all crowd control and negative status effects. |
Decay Augmentation | Your Witchcraft Effects deal X of their damage over 5 seconds, with the damage type determined by your class. Rank 10: If your damage-over-time effects surpass 85% of the target’s total Life, the target is instantly killed. |
Grow | Casting an Ultimate Skill imbues your Servants, Minions, and Companions with dark magic, causing them to grow in size and deal X bonus damage for 15 seconds. Rank 11: While enlarged, your Servants, Minions, and Companions gain a 100% Critical Strike Chance. |
Aura of Siphoning | Summon an aura of decay that inflicts 80% Poison damage to enemies every second. Rank 10: Each time the Aura of Siphoning deals damage, you recover 1% of your Maximum Life. |
The Cycle (unique) | Your skills have a 15% chance to cause a flower to sprout from the ground when dealing damage. If an enemy is nearby, the flower inflicts X Poison damage over 5 seconds. If an ally is nearby, the flower restores 6% of their Maximum Life. The flower withers after use and can grow once every 2 seconds per enemy. Rank 5: The flower’s damage and healing affect all enemies or allies within its vicinity. |
4. Lost Powers (4)
These are more adaptable and uncommon. They can be identified by their iconography, which features a blue animal skull. They can increase the potency of other witchcraft abilities.
WITCHCRAFT | EFFECT |
Breath of the Coven | Dealing damage or applying a Crowd Control effect with any of your Witchcraft abilities increases your Attack Speed by X for 10 seconds, with each unique Witchcraft ability stacking this effect once. Witchcraft abilities include Eldritch, Psyche, and Growth & Decay. At Rank 8: While bonuses from Eldritch, Psyche, and Growth & Decay are all active simultaneously, you gain a 40% Lucky Hit chance. |
Hex Specialization | Enhance the effectiveness of your Hex Effects by X. At Rank 10: Gain a 10% increased Critical Strike Chance against enemies affected by your Hex Effects. |
Aura Specialization | Increase the radius of your Aura Effects by X. At Rank 10: Gain 50% additional Critical Strike Damage against enemies within your Aura Effects. |
Piranhado (unique) | When an enemy is affected by both a Hex and an Aura Effect, a Piranhado is summoned, drawing enemies towards it and dealing X Physical damage over 12 seconds. This can occur once every 20 seconds. At Rank 5: The Piranhado moves towards nearby enemies. |
Out of the 25 powers, 4 are Unique Powers—one for each school and one Lost Power. Unique Powers are more difficult to acquire and are limited to Rank 5, whereas standard powers can be upgraded up to Rank 20.
