How to Farm AP in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

To maximize your party’s potential and improve your Materia in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you must become an expert in Ability Point (AP) farming. In order to overcome the game’s increasingly difficult obstacles, Materia must level up using AP, which grants new abilities and strengthens old ones. In order to optimize your AP gains and make sure your characters are prepared for the challenges that lie ahead, this guide explores effective tactics and strategic places.

Understanding AP Farming in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Ability Points, or AP, are essential for leveling up Materia, gaining new skills, and enhancing battle effectiveness in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. All equipped Materia, including those which are not part of the active party, receive AP, which is acquired during combat. Gains in AP are double after the game, which makes it the perfect time to farm.

The efficiency of AP farming can be greatly increased by using tools like the Chocobo Armband, which triples AP for Materia, in conjunction with AP Up Materia. Stronger party capabilities and quicker Materia growth are guaranteed by carefully arranging AP farming.

Best Ways to Farm AP in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

While playing normally can earn players some AP during Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, it will take some patience and farming to max out all the Materia. The time required to level up a Materia can be significantly reduced with the aid of the appropriate equipment and a decent combat encounter to farm; here are some pointers to help you accomplish that.

Chadley’s Combat Simulator, Musclehead Colosseum & Fiend Intel

Chadley’s Combat Simulator is one of the most accessible sources of AP. Players can obtain AP really quickly by engaging in combat with several foes in the simulator. This method’s sole drawback is that it will only provide AP to Materia that the fighting characters have equipped. Farming a Fiend Intel fight is an alternate method that enables party members who are not part of the current party to also earn AP. Because they occur in the open world, the entire party can get AP while still being easily triggered and repetitive.

Farming AP by fighting at the Musclehead Colosseum is a third option that becomes accessible during Chapter 8. The Colosseum bouts feature some massive group fights that can be repeated as many as you wish, much like the Combat Simulator and Fiend Intel. Playing combat games like “Devil-May-Care Desperados” with a large number of foes will enable players to farm AP as efficiently as possible. Players can either resign or reset the challenge in “Devil-May-Care Desperados” after beating the bandits in the first round, which allows them to farm AP more quickly and effectively.

AP Up Materia

Using the AP Up Materia is one of the greatest and simplest methods to increase AP acquisition. It is not necessary to level up this material. Rather, it increases by 100% the AP that a Materia it is associated with earns. The AP Up Materia needs to be positioned in a linked Materia Slot that connects to the Slot where the other Materia is located in order to be linked to it. Certain weapons and armor have three linked slots, so AP Up can be connected to two Materia simultaneously. Using an AP Up Materia doubles the AP gain for the Materia it is attached to.

Players can locate four AP Up Materia throughout the game. The places are as follows:

  • In the Mythril Mines, at the end of a narrow walkway, shortly after Barret and Red descend the cliff following the Hooded Figure. This area becomes accessible during Chapter 3.
  • Complete the Combat Simulator Challenge “Corel Battle Intel: Badlands Beasts,” which unlocks during or after Chapter 9 by finishing Fiend Intel 2 and Fiend Intel 6 in the Corel Region.
  • Finish the Combat Simulator Challenge “Nibel Battle Intel: Cthonian Rhondo,” available during or after Chapter 11 by completing “Mako-Cursed Abomination Fiend Intel” and “Stone-Cold Spitter Fiend Intel” in the Nibel Region.
  • After completing the main story, tackle the “Six-Person Bouts: Ululating Quartet” challenge at the Musclehead Colosseum.

Chapter 12 AP Farming for Materia

Chapter 12 is the best time to carry out this strategy because it allows you to fast-travel across all areas and utilise all seven playable characters consistently. Make sure each character has as many Materia slots as possible and equip them with Orbs you wish to level up. (A useful trick is to buy Level 1 Time Materia, max it out, and sell it for a significant profit.)

Equip Cloud with Fire and Ice linked to Magnify, enabling him to attack multiple enemies with either Fire or Ice spells. Pair Swiftcast with Ice for an instant-cast of Blizzaga. First Strike will help boost Cloud’s ATB at the start of battles, and Chocoking’s Cape adds an additional ATB charge. This setup will ensure Cloud starts every battle with two full ATB charges and can immediately cast Blizzaga on multiple enemies. The HP<=>MP Materia will allow you to repeat this strategy continuously.

Fast-travel to the Cliffside Storehouse in the southern part of Gongaga. Once you arrive, move forward and cast Blizzaga on the two Gagighandis and the Chimera Mimic nearby. Then, turn around and head south into the forest, where you’ll find three Grangalan pots just off the path. Continue north towards the Moogle Emporium to battle a Grandhorn with Fira, and then retrace your steps southeast to use Fira on two more Grandhorns.

Post-Game Reward

All AP gains are tripled after defeating the main game. As a result, players can level up their Materia considerably more quickly and complete any remaining sidequests and challenges. Materia can be maxed out before starting another run, which can make things much more manageable. This can be especially helpful before hitting NG+ and Hard Mode.

The Chocobo Armband

Players can begin accessing the “Esoteric Secrets” sidequest in Chapter 11. The Chocobo Armband, a potent piece of armor that triples the AP earned by equipped Materia, is awarded to players who complete this side mission. Players can significantly speed up their AP gain and increase their Materia by using this Armband.

Tips

Gather 7 Healing Materia: Since every character earns AP, it’s a good idea to have Healing Materia on all party members. The characters in the backline will have MP available to cast Cure between battles, allowing them to heal your primary characters without using up their MP.

More Materia Slots Are Almost Always Better: When it comes to weapons and armour, it’s usually more beneficial to equip items with the most Materia slots, as it maximises the number of Materia gaining AP. Once you’ve mastered a Weapon Ability, feel free to switch to a weapon with more Materia slots. Armour with more slots typically has lower stats, but for most regular battles, this won’t be a significant issue.

Everyone in the Party Earns AP: Although the party is split up at different points in the story, all members receive EXP and AP after a battle, even those not actively involved. Starting in Chapter 2, when the group is in the open world or any area where everyone is together, be sure to fully equip each character. All characters will collect AP for their Materia.
