A Gutsy Move in Monster Hunter Wilds
The A Gutsy Move side quest kicks off when you talk to your Palico at any Base Camp. It’s confirmed to be available at Hunter Rank 40 after finishing the story, though you might unlock it earlier. Your Palico will start by asking you to catch a regular Vigorwasp and some Flashflies. Once you’ve completed those tasks, they’ll give you the quest to track down a large Vigorwasp.
Giant Vigorwasp location in Monster Hunter Wilds
When you reach Chapter 4-2 and start the mission Chasing Change, you’ll unlock High Rank, which means tougher monsters are coming your way. To help you get ready, your Palico will offer to boost their healing abilities. Just have a chat with them to kick off the quest.
They’ll ask you to capture a Vigorwasp, an important ingredient for upgrading their healing support. You can find these little critters in these spots:
- Windward Plains — Areas 10 and 13
- Scarlet Forest — Areas 2, 10, and 12
- Ruins of Wyveria — Areas 2 and 5
You can also find Vigorwasps during a Giant Vigorwasp Outbreak. However, these events don’t happen all the time, so it’s a good idea to check the forecast in the environment overview. Giant Vigorwasps are pretty easy to spot, they’re basically larger versions of regular Vigorwasps, with a bigger green sack hanging underneath. Just like the smaller ones, they show up on the map with the same icon, but in a slightly darker shade of green. Since they often hang out near regular Vigorwasps, they’re usually not too hard to find.
How to Capture a Giant Vigorwasp
Once you arrive at the Windward Plains, Scarlet Forest, or Ruins of Wyveria, open your local map and use the Filter Icons option in the bottom-left corner. Set it to Display All, scroll down until you find Vigorwasp, select it, and place a waypoint.
To get there quickly, mount your Seikret by pressing Up on the D-pad (or Tab on a keyboard), then use auto-move to head straight to the marked spot.
When you reach the Vigorwasp, open your Item Bar in the bottom-right corner, select the Capture Net, and hold the Aim Slinger button. Line up your shot, then press the Fire Slinger button to catch the Vigorwasp.
Use the Capture Net to catch the Vigorwasp and fulfill your Palico’s request. Once you’ve got it, head back to Base Camp and talk to your Palico. In return, they’ll upgrade one of their healing abilities, allowing them to restore even more of your HP during battles.
