Building a proper base and a fully functional fabricator is the most important part in Subnautica 2 because when you’ve built your own base, the game feels more explorative than survival. A fully functional fabricator lets you craft resources that the lifepod’s fabricator can’t. This guide shows exactly how to get started building a base, elements to use, powering up your base and building a fully functional fabricator.
Obtaining Habitat Builder

To get started with building your own base, you first need to unlock the Habitat Builder. You can do that by progressing the main quest “Welcome Center”, where you’ve to scan habitat builder fragments to obtain its blueprint to craft using the fabricator.
Building a Base

Equip the Habitat Builder tool, open its menu and you should be able to see a few options. Important ones are the hatch, corridor and room. You’re going to need a lot of titanium and copper to build a base, so stack them whenever you can. You can build multiple bases and connect using a corridor between them, also make sure to attach a hatch to your base because that’s the only way to get inside.
Powering The Base

Now that you’ve built your base, you need to supply power to it to be able to run basic electronics like fabricators, retaining oxygen etc. Since you’ve just started out, you can build solar panels and place them on the roof to power your base. As you progress the game, you’re going to unlock other power supplying methods like the Hydroelectric Turbines because Solar Panels are limited to daylight and don’t work during nights.
Beacon For Base

While you’re at it, I also recommend you to build a beacon and place it on the roof. This beacon will show a symbol for your base’s location so that you don’t get lost in the sea.
Building a Fabricator

After you’ve set up your base and powered it up, you can build a fabricator through the habitat builder. This is a fully functional fabricator, meaning you can now craft advanced resources like grease, aid kits etc.
