Struggling to manage your growing sub-fief in Dune: Awakening? Storage circuits are your go-to for automation of resource flow, organization of the materials, and efficiency conversion. This guide elaborates on how circuits work, helps with setting up a circuit, and explains smart usage approaches to make the base streamlined.

Mastering Storage Circuits in Dune: Awakening

Resource juggling can be quite an issue with the expanding sub-fief in Dune: Awakening-if not smart with storage circuits. Think of them as the routing system for your materials: they specify where they come from, where they go, and what operates on them.

You might feel you don’t have to do any of this at the start. However, the more complex your base becomes, or the more you manage a guild that incorporates multiple fabricators and refineries, the more important it becomes to work towards a clean storage solution.

What Are Storage Circuits (and Why They Matter)?

    Storage circuits help you:

    • Assign specific materials to specific machines
    • Direct overflow materials into chosen containers
    • Keep your setup from turning into an unsearchable mess

You’ll spot two numbers when looking at a machine or container’s storage tab:

    • The left number controls what it accepts (input)
    • The right number determines where its output flows

    Quick Setup Checklist

Before diving into circuits, make sure you’ve got:

    • A fabricator or refinery ready to use
    • Storage containers already built
    • A basic idea of what you want each machine to handle

How to Link Storage with Machines Using Circuits

Here’s the basic logic behind it:

    1. Pick a Machine and Set Unique Circuit Numbers

    • Go to a fabricator, refinery, or similar device. Choose:
    • A unique number for input (left)
    • Another for output (right)

    2. Connect Raw Material Storage to the Machine

Now, locate the storage that holds your raw material.

Set its output number to match your machine’s input number.

This tells the machine: “Pull from this storage only.”

    3. Assign a Bin for Overflow

Got too much output? No worries.

Find an empty or designated storage box and give it an input number that matches your machine’s output number.

That way, whatever the machine produces will flow neatly into this container.

Once all this is set up, your machines will run smoothly and keep working even if you’re offline.

Example Setup – Refining Iron Ore

Let’s say you’re loaded with iron ore and want to assign a single refinery to handle it.

    In your storage container:

    • Input Circuit: 8
    • Output Circuit: 7

    In the refinery:

    • Input Circuit: 7
    • Output Circuit: 8

This creates a self-contained loop. The refinery pulls only from that container and sends any extra resources right back to it. That’s a closed circuit setup.

For more flexibility, you can break this loop. Assign a separate output number and connect it to a different container for refined materials. This makes handling large quantities way easier.

Smart Uses of the Circuit System

    Stay Organized

Tired of digging through random bins? Assign circuits per resource. Your future self will thank you.

    Manage Who Accesses What

You can tweak access permissions per machine or container. Combined with circuits, this means only trusted guildmates can touch high-value materials or gear.

    Build Freely

Since machines and containers don’t have to sit side-by-side anymore, feel free to spread out your layout and make better use of your space.

With a little time spent setting up circuits, your sub-fief becomes a well-oiled machine. No more resource clutter, no more guessing games—just smooth automation.
