Frost Eveque is a boss you will encounter within the confines of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. It is the stronger, colder brother of the humble Eveque, who inflicts Cold Damage upon anyone standing in its way. How to Beat Frost Eveque
Location
The Frost Eveque is an optional boss found north of the Stone Quarry and west of the Coastal Cave. You’ll only be able to access this area once Esquie gains the ability to fly.
Attack Patterns
Frozen Spear Strike
The boss thrusts a frosty spear into the ground, creating two shockwaves afterward.
- How to Dodge: Roll right when the spear hits the ground, then dodge twice more to avoid the aftershocks.
- How to Parry: Parry the initial strike and both of the shockwaves.
Chilling Blast
The boss summons a glowing orb in its right hand and fires multiple beams at a target.
- How to Dodge: Wait for the sound cue, then dodge as the orb shoots up to five beams. Keep dodging until the attack finishes.
- How to Counter: Parry each beam to counter the attack.
Spiked Barrage
Spikes emerge from the ground towards one party member, then spread out to target the entire group. The number of single-target spikes increases significantly when the boss’s health is critically low.
- How to Dodge: The spikes appear in a regular rhythm, three times in total. Time your dodges after noting the pattern of the first two.
- How to Counter: Parry the third spike, then brace for the group-wide attack.
Frozen Surge
After a quick charge-up, the boss releases a powerful blast aimed at its target.
- How to Dodge: Dodge right after the screen flashes black and white.
- How to Counter: Press parry right after the screen turns black and white for a successful counter.
How to Defeat
Even though it’s an ice-based enemy and has “Frost” in its name, the Frost Eveque isn’t weak to Fire—instead, it’s vulnerable to Lightning. Use your most powerful Lightning abilities and equip weapons with a Lightning affinity to infuse your normal, aimed, and adaptive attacks with the right element.
Keep in mind that the number of hits from the Frost Eveque’s attacks, especially its two spell-based ones, can vary each time. As its health drops into critical range, both the ice orb and ground spike spells become more unpredictable, with a higher chance of hitting multiple times.
Always be ready for a follow-up hit. Don’t relax until the boss fully stops attacking or your party member lands a successful counter.
