The Frenzy Virus has once again appeared in Monster Hunter Wilds, and with it comes powerful Frenzied monsters and precious crafting materials. Some of those coveted resources include the Frenzy Crystal, which is used to craft high-rank gear. This walkthrough will explain how to get these crystals by hunting Frenzied monsters, specifically Gore Magala, and how to use them to make effective equipment.
How to Get Frenzy Crystal in Monster Hunter Wilds
You can get Frenzy Shards by hunting down Frenzied monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds. These materials are Rarity 6, so you’re more likely to get them from tougher monsters like Yian Kut-ku or Hirabami.
Frenzied Monsters usually show up in the Iceshard Cliffs, which is Gore Magala’s main habitat, but they can also appear in other regions. To quickly check what monsters are in a particular area, just open the map screen and look at the Environment Overview tab.
Some Optional Quests also feature Frenzied Monsters as their main targets, such as:
- Abberant Atrocity — Frenzied Yian Kut-ku
- Misty Depths — Gore Magala
Keep in mind, Frenzied Monsters only start appearing in High Rank after you finish the Lurking Shadows quest, where you’ll need to take down a Frenzied Nerscylla in the Wounded Hollow. Frenzy Crystals have a 24% chance to drop when you break Gore Magala’s wounded parts. As the source of the Frenzy Virus, Gore Magala is immune to its effects but can spread the virus to both other monsters and hunters.
If you want to gather as many Frenzy Shards as possible, focus on wounding monsters by breaking their parts during the fight. Once the monster is weak, capturing it with a Shock Trap and Tranq Bombs will also boost your rewards.
