Earth Crystals are a valuable material in MH Wilds used to make weapons and armor both in Low Rank and High Rank. Though not the most uncommon material, acquiring them using an effective farming plan can get them to you fairly efficiently. It’s best to obtain Earth Crystals by excavating outcrops in Windward Plains and Scarlet Forest, but some of the monsters drop them as well. Earth Crystal Farming Location
You can acquire Earth Crystals through mining outcrops in areas Windward Plains and Scarlet Forest. As its rarity is 4, it’s not that hard to get, and you can obtain quite a bit by killing all the outcrops in a location.
Best Farming Strategy
Remember that when you loot an outcrop, it will take 15 minutes to respawn. An effective farming pattern is to empty all the outcrops of the Windward Plains before you go to Scarlet Forest. Once you finish farming there, the outcrops in the Plains would be up for mining again, providing you with a circular farming pattern.
Alternative Ways to Get Earth Crystals
Mining is the best way to get Earth Crystals, but you can also obtain them as drops from smaller monsters like Chatacabra, Bulaqchi, and Talioth in both High Rank and Low Rank. Unfortunately, you can’t buy Earth Crystals with Zenny, as no vendors or traders sell them or offer them in trades.
Earth Crystal Uses
Earth Crystals are mainly used to craft weapons and armor, especially in the early stages of Low Rank and High Rank. If you’re forging a weapon from the Ore Tree, you will need a few Earth Crystals at either the first or second level. Some weapon types from other trees may also require Earth Crystals for their entry-level upgrades.
One benefit of Ore Tree weapons is that they don’t use monster materials, so you can craft them early simply by mining outcrops. Naturally, as you get further into the game, you’ll eventually have to hunt monsters for other upgrades. For armor, both the Alloy and Ingot sets in Low Rank use Earth Crystals for some pieces. In High Rank, parts of the Hope Alpha armor set also need a few Earth Crystals.
