One of your first real tasks in Dune: Awakening throws you into the wreckage of a fallen ship—the Alcyon—in search of a key item: the Holtzman Amplifier. Completing this mission (part of the Scrap Mettle: Wrecking Crew contract) gives you a solid early-game boost with 350 XP and 2,000 Solari. Here’s how to find the wreck and survive the hostile mess inside.
Locating the Alcyon Wreck
Start by heading east from the Tradepost. Before long, you’ll see the remains of a large ship—the Alcyon. It’s hard to miss. This wreck has two main access points:
- North side – leads into the lower level
- Side entrance – drops you into the upper deck
If you’re aiming to find the Holtzman Amplifier fast, it’s best to enter from the north, as it gives quicker access to the lowest floor.
Prep Before You Head In
Before you even think about entering the wreck:
- Hydrate fully – There are no water sources nearby.
- Watch the sun exposure – You’ll be in open terrain while approaching.
- Gear up for combat – The ship is crawling with enemies.
Enemy Encounter Tips
The Alcyon wreck isn’t deserted. Inside, you’ll typically run into:
- 2–3 melee scavengers
- 2–3 ranged enemies nearby
They often react as a group when alerted, so avoid rushing in without a plan. Occasionally, the area might be less crowded if another player has recently cleared it.
Loot While You’re In There
While exploring the ship, make sure to loot every crate and container you come across. Some of the useful materials you might find include:
- Spice-Infused Copper Dust
- Plasteel Microflora Fiber
- Mechanical Parts
- Other early-game resources
Don’t rush straight to the quest marker—grab whatever you can on the way.
Finding the Holtzman Amplifier
Once inside, use your compass to track the quest marker. If you’re on the lower deck (via the north entrance), the marker will still point further down. Head toward it until you find a short staircase leading into a room with control panels and cluttered workstations.
Scan the area carefully—there should be a container or case sitting on top of some machinery. Open it, and inside you’ll find:
- The Holtzman Amplifier
- A bundle of Solari coins as a bonus
Wrap Up or Keep Farming?
At this point, you can return to the Tradepost and turn in the contract. But if you’re low on funds, it’s worth noting:
- Solari coins respawn regularly in this wreck.
- It’s one of the best early-game money spots.
- The structure itself can even double as a temporary base.
So feel free to clear the place again before leaving.
