How to Start the Buried Treasure Quest
Buried Treasure is the final quest in the Vermillius Gap storyline in Dune: Awakening. In this mission, you’ll finally learn how to dig up hidden treasure buried deep beneath the sands of Arrakis. It walks you through how to use a Handheld Resource Scanner along with the Fremen’s Static Compactor, a powerful tool that helps you uncover what’s hidden below the surface. By the end of this quest, you’ll know exactly how to search for and extract buried secrets from the desert.
Buried Treasure Quest Guide
You must first study and build two essential tools the Static Compactor and the Handheld Resource Scanner before you can begin searching for hidden treasure. You’ll find the scanner under the Exploration tab and the compactor under Construction in the Research Menu. Use the scanner to search the open desert. When a diamond-shaped marker shows up, that’s your clue that a treasure is buried there. Then, switch to the Static Compactor to dig it up.
Just keep in mind, you’ll need to scan areas of open sand, which puts you at risk of drawing the attention of a Sandworm. To stay safe, turn off your suspensors and shields to reduce your noise and presence. Completing this quest rewards you with 200 XP and unlocks the Static Compactor for future use.
How to Get the Handheld Resource Scanner
The Handheld Resource Scanner is an Iron-grade cartography tool that lets you mark useful info on your map. You can unlock it from the Exploration tab in the Research Menu. To craft one, you’ll need 9 Iron Ingots and 6 EMF Generators, and you can build it using either a General or Survival Fabricator. However, if you already have one from the Styles of Sand quest, you don’t need to craft another.
How to Get the Static Compactor
The Static Compactor is an Iron-grade gathering tool that helps you compact resources like Spice Sand and Flour Sand, making them easier to harvest. To unlock its schematic, you’ll need to finish The Second Trial of Aql, which is the second quest in the Find the Fremen storyline, which becomes available once you enter the Vermillius Gap for the first time. Crafting a Static Compactor requires 10 Iron Ingots and 7 EMF Generators. EMF Generators are a bit rare and are usually found inside Moisture-Sealed Caves.
