In order to unlock this challenge, you first have to acquire the Sealed Abyss Artifact in Hernand. You can find it at the second crossroads, which is located just north of the Hernand Royal Trading Post. To complete the challenge, you have to kill 3 enemies using your shield instead of a normal weapon. Once you have defeated the three enemies using the shield bash, you can now complete the challenge and receive 1 Abyss Artifact as a reward.
How to Defeat 3 Enemies with a Shield
Pressing L1 will block, then pressing R2 will shield bash. This will deal direct damage. Use this to defeat three enemies. This shield bash will not inflict much damage, so it is helpful to first weaken them a bit with some regular attacks before using this to defeat them.
If you press L1 + R2, you will be able to either shield bash or shield charge. This will inflict more damage. This will not work all the time, but if you continue to use this repeatedly, you will be able to shield charge at some point. Using this will make this challenge much easier to complete. The easiest way to complete this challenge is to fight weaker enemies that are closer to Hernand.
If you keep holding the button too long, your character may follow up with a sword swing, which can steal the kill. Try releasing the button after the shield strike to make sure that only the shield attack is registered. Sometimes, the kill is not registered even though it appeared that the shield had gotten the final blow. In that case, just continue killing more enemies until all three are registered. In some instances, you may have to get several more kills before the challenge is complete.
