In Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, the quest Broken Bonds is a story-based quest that takes place in The Ravines. This quest features a focus on story and character conflict like no other. Here’s a step by step guide on how to get to Ri’nela/Crying Grotto and completing the rescue sequence for quest completion.
Starting the Quest
As you search for Ri’nela, your search will lead you through the yellow waypoint in the area known as the Ravines, follow it until you reach a cave entrance that leads to the Crying Grotto. The cave also has bioluminescent plants in it, filling the space with soft, shifting light instead of darkness. When you enter the cave, your task will be updated to searching for Nor and Ri’nela.
Moving through the grotto involves climbing upward across ledges and vines while following the waypoint deeper inside. The path is straightforward, but you’ll need to pay attention to vertical movement. As you progress, you’ll begin to hear sounds echoing from ahead. Continue forward to trigger a cutscene.
The Rescue
The cutscene shows Ka’sem of the Mangkwan Warband attacking Ri’nela. He snaps her bow in half and wraps his hands around her throat, preventing her from escaping. Your character attempts to engage by drawing back the bowstring, but just before entry, there is a gunshot which immediately kills Ka’sem. The shot is fired by Nor, who uses RDA technology to save Ri’nela, underscoring the ongoing conflict between tradition and human weapons.
Leaving the Cave
Once the scene is done, your objective will be to exit the cave with both Nor and Ri’nela. To do this, you need to backtrack through the Crying Grotto area and use the waypoint in order to get out. During your retracing, you will hear some conversations between Nor and Ri’nela that reflect unresolved feelings that continue to linger.
The final cutscene will trigger once you arrive outside of Ravines and So’lek understands that Nor and Ri’nela definitely require an extended break from each other. So’lek takes his leave, completing the mission known as “Broken Bonds”.
