Rot and Ruin Update introduces new weapons and armor in the game Grounded 2. Players have access to various kinds of gear such as Mage Armor for those who wish to summon, Ranger Gear for players who enjoy playing from afar, Venom Staff, and the Splinter Cannon. There is also a Splotcher in this update. In this guide, we’ll go through all the new armor and weapons and explain how to unlock them.
All New Weapons and Armor in the Rot and Ruin Update
The Rot and Ruin update brings various new equipment to the game of Grounded 2. New armor sets are two, new staff is one, Splinter Cannon is another one, and there is also the Splotcher for builders. Each piece of new equipment comes with some benefits or bonuses, and therefore let’s go through all of that information.
Centi-Cultist Armor

Centicultist Armor is a Tier 4 Mage armor that is based on the new Centipede boss. It consists of a helmet, chest armor, and leggings. The helmet gives you Woozy Reduction, whereas chest armor and leggings give you Summon Criticals. It is particularly useful to those who use summoned creatures.
The set bonus is known as Call from Beyond. Weapon attacks stack up, providing you with an increased chance to summon a Termite Soldier that will assist you during battle. Stacks are removed when a Termite Soldier is summoned.

In addition, the Summon Criticals bonus increases the critical hit chance of your summoned creatures and therefore improves their effectiveness in battle. With each upgrade of Centicultist Armor, you receive a Summon Attack Speed bonus that increases the attack speed of your summoned creatures. Since Termites are Tier 4 creatures, it is helpful to have a group of them that attack faster.
Termite Armor

The other armor type is the Termite Armor, which is a Tier 4 Ranger armor set. This armor set comprises the Termite Tricorn Hat, Termite Half Plate, and Termite Boots. Dust Guard is the attribute provided by the hat, while the chest and boots provide the Parry Damage attribute. Parry Damage bonus raises the damage of any attack following a perfect block.
Stopping Power is the name given to the set bonus. Once you have performed a perfect block, there is an increase in the stun damage of your ranged attacks for some time. This makes the armor very suitable for players who enjoy pairing perfect blocks with ranged attacks.
Sleek is one of the available upgrade paths, which offers you Ranged Stun Damage bonus. This means that the attack damage from ranged weapons goes up on creatures already stunned. Ranger armor bonus, on the other hand, increases the damage to enemy weak points.
Cane-Tipede Staff

The Cane-tipede Staff is a newly introduced Tier 4 staff that inflicts Venom damage. While the other staffs inflict damage using candy type, the Cane-tipede staff inflicts venom damage. The special perk for this staff is Summon Venom, which ensures that your summoned characters will do damage using venom as well. It therefore becomes an ideal staff for those who usually use summons.
Venom damage works as damage per second; the enemies will therefore keep on getting damage even after getting attacked. With the perk of having your summons do venom damage, the Cane-tipede Staff proves to be effective for Mage and Summon builds.
Splinter Cannon

The Splinter Cannon is one of the most unique weapons introduced in the new patch. It is a shotgun powered by Termites, firing a number of projectiles simultaneously. This gun has the Prickly Parry perk, dealing piercing damage to enemies from a perfect block.
There are several kinds of ammunition for the Splinter Cannon. In addition to the basic Splinter Shot, there is a variant of ammunition causing Mint, Spicy, or Sour damage. To unlock the various types of ammo, you have to research their ingredients.
The damage caused by the Splinter Cannon is not fully determined by the indicated number. This is because there are a number of shots fired by this weapon per every trigger pull, and multiple shots may strike the same enemy.
Splotcher
While the Splotcher is placed along with the other new weapons, it is actually a construction item rather than a weapon. This is because you can paint your walls using this item. You can create paints through the Splotch Mixer and then paint your walls using these paints. This is why this particular item is more useful for people who are fond of constructing and designing their bases. It does not deal damage or function as a combat weapon.
How to Unlock the New Armor and Weapons
The Centicultist Armor is unlocked by defeating Scratch the Centipede, the Centipede boss found inside the Termite Hill. To craft the Termite Armor, you need to fight Termites and collect the required Termite parts. The same materials are also used to unlock the Splinter Cannon.
The different types of Splinter Cannon ammunition are unlocked by researching the required Termite parts and candy materials. The Splotcher is tied to the new building and painting features, allowing you to use paints made with the Splotch Mixer to customize your walls.
