In Dying Light: The Beast, shaft mods give you the ability to add special effects to critical hits. There are six blueprints scattered all over the game, and each will unlock an effect. Collecting all will let you forge stronger mods for your weapons and adjust them as per your playing style. Below is a guide describing the exact locations for each blueprint to help you acquire them swiftly and efficiently.
All 6 Shaft Mod Blueprint Locations
Shaft mods apply effects to your critical hits, and there are six blueprints hidden across the game. Here is where to find each.
1. Inferno
Inferno is hidden away in Farmlands at the ruins. Descend into the basement, make your way through a few obstacles, and go into the vent at the corner. The vent leads into a tiny room with a corpse laid out on a mattress, where the blueprint awaits. The mod would add Fire to your critical hits.
2. Avalanche
You can find the Avalanche blueprint in the Town Hall of Old Town. Simply head inside and find the Trader you know. The blueprint is available in his inventory for 650 Money. Once you craft it, your critical hits will inflict Freeze.
3. Catapult
Catapult is in the Industrial Zone, at the Industrial Park. Spot the building with the tall chimney and climb to the top using the handholds and routes around the structure. Once you reach the top, you’ll find the blueprint. It lets you apply Blast on all critical hits.
4. Slaughter
The blueprint, Slaughter, is at the Factory Relay substation in the Industrial Zone. Make sure the area is clear of zombies, then unlock the door with a lockpick. Inside, check the small table on the right – that’s where the blueprint is. It applies Bleed effects to critical hits.
5. Bane
The Bane blueprint is near the Mental Asylum. Look for the Island Relay substation just south of St. Valentine Asylum on the map. Enter through the open door and check the electrical equipment inside – that’s where the blueprint is. Crafting it gives your critical hits a Toxic effect.
6. Lightning
To grab the last blueprint: Lightning, go to the Power Plant on Recreation Island. Use the front ladder to enter through a broken window, then carefully make your way to the bottom. Walk down the hallway to the closed double doors and check the computers on the right – the blueprint is there. It gives Shock to your critical hits.
Collecting all six blueprints allows you to craft shaft mods for nearly every elemental or status effect, making it easy to tailor your weapons to your preferred playstyle.
