All Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Potion Recipes

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, alchemy allows Henry to transform the herbs and materials he gathers on his journey into powerful potions. Unlike many other games where alchemy is handled through a simple menu, this process is far more immersive and hands-on. Alchemy is a skill that can be gradually leveled up, allowing you to unlock new perks over time. However, mastering this complex system comes with a learning curve, especially in the early stages of the game.

Brewing a potion through alchemy follows a long process: you follow the recipe’s steps, complete them at an alchemy table, and receive your reward. However, each recipe varies slightly, requiring different ingredients and unique steps. Not all potions are the same, so it’s essential to carefully follow the recipe in your alchemy book—otherwise, you might end up with a useless concoction. Here’s everything you need to know about how alchemy works and the complete list of potion recipes you can create in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

Understanding Alchemy in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

To get started with alchemy, you’ll need to gather flowers and herbs from the world around you. While you can collect only what’s needed for a specific recipe, these items are lightweight, allowing you to carry a large quantity without issue. Freshly picked herbs and flowers are of higher quality if used immediately at an alchemy bench; otherwise, they will spoil quickly.

To extend their shelf life, you can dry them at a Drying Rack, which preserves them for longer but lowers their quality. It’s crucial to plan when to gather ingredients and when to brew, as you’ll want to use high-quality materials while also avoiding waste by letting them spoil.

Remember: Potions are classified into four quality levels: Weak, Normal, Strong, and “Henry”. The quality is determined by the freshness of your ingredients and how accurately you follow the recipe. The highest tier, “Henry”, is a special potion quality that becomes available only after unlocking the “Secret of Secrets” perk in the Alchemy skill tree.

Potion Recipes

At the beginning of the game, you’ll start with just one recipe in your book, with a second one unlocking shortly after the game fully begins, allowing you to brew the potion needed to save your progress. Beyond that, you’ll have to discover new recipes by exploring the world or purchasing them from Apothecary stores. Once you acquire a recipe, simply use it from your inventory to add it to your recipe book.

Brewing Potions

When you find an Alchemy Bench, check the right side to locate your recipe book. Flip through the pages to select the recipe you need. The right page displays a flowchart of the steps, while the left contains written instructions.

The essential ingredients for any potion are always available and can be found on the left side of the alchemy bench:

  • Water
  • Wine
  • Oil
  • Spirits

Remember: The first Alchemy Bench can be found in Bozhena’s Hut during Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s tutorial section. The next available bench is in Troskowitz, located beside the Apothecary on the west side of the settlement. Both the Alchemy Bench and the Drying Rack in Troskowitz are freely accessible and won’t be considered trespassing.

Alchemy Tools & Their Uses

Several tools are provided on the Alchemy Bench, each corresponding to specific instructions in a recipe:

  • Cauldron & Bellows – The main pot where ingredients are mixed. It can be lowered or heated using the bellows to bring the mixture to a boil.
  • Sandglass – A timer; one “turn” lasts the few seconds it takes for the sand to run through.
  • Mortar & Pestle – Used to grind ingredients before adding them to the potion.
  • Dish – A plate for holding ingredients before use.
  • Still – Distills a potion once it’s completed in the cauldron.
  • Vial – Bottles the finished potion or is used for decanting.

On the right side of the bench, a shelf displays the items you select from your inventory. As long as you have the necessary ingredients for a recipe, follow the instructions step by step. Since each potion has its own unique combination and order of preparation, there’s no universal method for brewing—you’ll need to carefully follow each recipe’s specific steps.

Note: The effectiveness of a potion depends on the quality of the ingredients used and how precisely you follow the recipe. Higher-quality potions offer better effects, so it’s best to use fresh ingredients whenever possible and strictly adhere to the recipe. Failing to do so may result in a weaker potion.

Factors that Influence the Quality of your Potion

The key factors that influence the type and quality of the potion you brew:

  • The liquid base used—Water, Wine, Oil, or Spirits.
  • The amount and order in which ingredients are added.
  • Whether ingredients are ground using the mortar and pestle.
  • The fire’s heat, controlled by the bellows.
  • The cauldron’s position, which can be lowered to bring the mixture to a boil.
  • The boiling time, measured by the sandglass on the alchemy bench.
  • The extraction method, whether distilling or simply pouring the potion when ready.
  • The quality of ingredients used.

If you make a mistake while brewing, Henry will often comment on what went wrong, helping you refine your technique for next time.
