All Forgotten Altar Locations for Lost Witchcraft Powers

The Season of Witchcraft” introduces a new way to learn magical powers in the game. You can specialize in three different types of magic:

  • Eldritch Magic: Powerful but potentially dangerous magic.
  • Psyche Magic: Magic that affects the mind and emotions.
  • Growth & Decay Magic: Magic that controls life and death.

To learn these magical abilities, you need to gain the trust of a group of witches called “The Coven.” You do this by completing special missions for them. As you complete these missions, you earn a special currency called “Restless Rot,” which allows you to learn new spells and increase your magical power.

Unlike the regular magic altars that are always in the same places, these special ‘Forgotten Altars’ appear randomly inside dungeons. This means you might have to explore a lot of dungeons to find them, but the good news is that the season’s main quest will take you to many dungeons, so you might find some along the way. Even if you have to search a bit extra, it’ll be worth it. The magical powers you unlock at these Forgotten Altars are some of the strongest in the entire game.

These Draught potions slightly increase the chance of finding special magic altars in dungeons.

  • They’re most effective in the hardest difficulty level (Torment 4). At lower difficulty levels, the increase in chance is very small, so it’s not worth using the potions there.
  • The effect of the potions is also reduced when used to find ‘Fugitive Head’ altars, which are already more common than regular altars.

Basically, save these potions for when you’re playing on the highest difficulty and are specifically looking for the rare altars.

If you put in the effort to find all the hidden ‘Forgotten Altars’ in Diablo 4, you’ll be rewarded with some incredibly powerful abilities. Here’s a list of all the amazing powers you can unlock:

  • The speed boost increases for each different type of Witchcraft spell you use.

At its strongest (Rank 8):

Hex Specialization

  • The stronger you make this ability, the more damage your Hex spells will deal.

At its strongest (Rank 10):

  • You have a 10% increased chance to critically hit enemies that are affected by your Hex spells.

Aura Specialization

  • This ability increases the area of effect of your Aura spells (a type of Witchcraft).
