All Destiny 2 Illusory Anchor Locations in ‘Kell’s Fall’

Upgrading your Slayer’s Fang exotic shotgun in Destiny 2 involves a challenging quest line. You’ll need to venture into the mirror realm during the Kell’s Fall mission on Expert difficulty and locate and destroy three Illusory Anchors in each of four distinct encounters. These Anchors are hidden throughout the mission, requiring careful exploration and a keen eye. Successfully destroying all Anchors and completing the mission on Expert will reward you with valuable catalysts that significantly boost your Slayer’s Fang’s power.

How to Start the Illusory Anchor in Destiny 2

After you finish Kell’s Fall for the first time, you’ll get the Slayer’s Fang exotic shotgun. This unlocks a harder version of the mission.

  • The main story will eventually send you back to Kell’s Fall a third time.
  • However, you can complete all the special quests to upgrade your Slayer’s Fang as soon as you can play Kell’s Fall on Expert difficulty.

Essentially, you don’t have to wait until the end of the story to start upgrading your new exotic weapon. You can start working on those upgrades right away if you’re up for the challenge of Expert difficulty. After completing their first run, players can unlock the Quests by speaking with Eido and other relevant NPCs in The Last City. There are four Quests in total, named Revenant Slayer I-IV. The initial step for each Quest is the same.

Illusory Anchor in Destiny 2

To encounter Illusory Anchors in Destiny 2, you must:

  • Have completed Kell’s Fall on any difficulty at least once.
  • Be playing on Expert difficulty.

After your first successful run of Kell’s Fall:

  • Talk to Eido in the Last City.
  • She’ll give you four catalyst quests for Slayer’s Fang.
  • Each quest requires you to:
    • Kill 20 enemies while a Tonic is active.
    • Find three Illusory Anchors within Kell’s Fall.

Essentially, Illusory Anchors are a special challenge that appears only in the toughest version of Kell’s Fall and only after you’ve proven yourself by completing it once.

How to destroy Illusory Anchor in Destiny 2

To destroy these Illusory Anchors, you’ll need to use your Slayer’s Fang.

  • They resemble the closed, see-through shells of Hive Shriekers.
  • Each time you encounter Illusory Anchors, there will be three of them to destroy.
  • Once you’ve destroyed all three anchors in an encounter and completed the Kell’s Fall mission on Expert difficulty, you’ll unlock the specific catalyst associated with that Illusory Anchor.

Basically, these anchors are a unique challenge that requires you to use your Slayer’s Fang to break them. Completing this challenge on Expert difficulty rewards you with special upgrades for your Slayer’s Fang.

After destroying all three Anchors in an area, you must complete the entire Exotic mission on the hardest difficulty (Expert) to finish the quest. You can pause the mission after destroying the Anchors and return later to complete it on Expert, but you’ll lose your progress if you don’t finish it within the same week.

Mirror Gallery – Revenant Slayer I

To begin their quest for Illusory Anchors, players must first venture into the Mirror Gallery. This is the initial mirror dimension they encounter in the Exotic mission. After breaking through the first pile of rubble and defeating The Trickster near the organ room, Guardians will enter this area. While there’s no boss here, enemies will still pose a threat. However, they won’t reappear endlessly, so players can eliminate them if they become troublesome.

The first Illusory Anchor can be found just to the left of your entry point into the mirror world. It’s positioned between a glowing tree and a closed door. The second Anchor is located a short distance ahead, just before you reach a large room with a strangely shaped tree growing sideways. You’ll find this Anchor at the end of the hallway leading to that room, in front of a large blue door.

The final Anchor is inside the large room with the sideways tree, on the opposite side from where you found the second Anchor. It’s situated in front of a large pink door on the right side of the room, but you might need to get quite close to it before it becomes visible. Destroy all three Anchors and complete the mission on the hardest difficulty (Expert) to unlock the ‘Repulsor Brace’ catalyst for Slayer’s Fang.

Fighting Pit – Revenant Slayer II

Things get more challenging in the next area, the Fighting Pit, where you’ll face Kaniks, The Mad Bomber. While battling Kaniks, you’ll also need to find the Illusory Anchors within the mirror world. Luckily, all three Anchors in the Fighting Pit are located relatively close to each other.

The first Anchor is floating in the center of the chamber. The second Anchor is located on the back wall of the room, opposite the entrance to the mirror world. You’ll find it near a sealed door and some statues. The final Anchor is hidden in a side room filled with statues and platforms. It’s positioned against one of the walls. Destroy all the Anchors and complete the mission on the hardest difficulty (Expert) to unlock the ‘Loose Change’ catalyst.

Sanctum – Revenant Slayer III

You’ll encounter the next set of Illusory Anchors during the Mindbender fight in the middle of Kell’s Fall. There are three Anchors to destroy using Slayer’s Fang:

  • The first Anchor: Located right behind the entrance to the mirror world.
  • The second Anchor: Inside the Mindbender’s arena, to the right as you enter. It’s near a table.
  • The third Anchor: In a side corridor. Slide under a hole in the floor and head towards the brazier (the fire pit) in the corner. The Anchor will be floating in front of some crates.

Completing the mission on the hardest difficulty (Expert) and destroying all three Anchors will reward you with the ‘Stats for All’ catalyst.

Revenant Plane – Revenant Slayer IV

The final three Illusory Anchors are located in the last fight of Kell’s Fall. Enter the mirror world and find them here:

  • The first Anchor: Floating in front of Mara Sov’s throne.
  • The second Anchor: Turn around and head to the corner on your left. It’s next to a statue’s head.
  • The third Anchor: From the mirror world entrance, turn around and run up the stairs. The Anchor will be to your right, near a statue.

After destroying all three Anchors, defeat Fikrul to earn the ‘Cascade Point’ catalyst for Slayer’s Fang.
