In Nioh 3, Chijiko are small, floating NPCs that you will find when exploring different regions. They usually appear high in the air, so you will need to shoot them down with a ranged weapon before you can interact with them. Once they land, pet the Chijiko to receive rewards like Samurai’s Locks, Ninja’s Locks, and powerful Transformed Arts. This guide will show you all the Chijiko locations in Nioh 3.
All Chijiko Locations
Chijiko are special NPCs that you can meet while exploring Nioh 3. They appear in different places and are usually floating in the area. When you find one, shoot it down with an arrow and it will land on the ground. Pet to get useful items to help you on your journey. If you’ve collected every Chijiko in order, you will unlock the Eagle-Eyed trophy as a nice reward.
Chijiko #1 (Tenryu River)


The first Chijiko is found on the southeast side of the Tenryu River area. It is flying in the area near a small shack. Once you see it, use a ranged weapon to knock it down. Then interact with it to get Samurai’s Locks and the Transformed Art: Moonlit Snow Charge for the Odachi as rewards.
Chijiko #2 (Tenryu River)


You will find this Chijiko west of the centre of the Tenryu River area, near a cliff covered with gold crystal. After interaction with it, you will get Samurai’s Locks along with the Transformed Art: Heaven Flash Lightning for the Sword as rewards.
Chijiko #3 (Hamamatsu)


You will find this one flying around southwest of the Hamamatsu Post Shrine, close to a tree. When you get near, a message will pop up saying “Bells chiming in the sky… S’ppose some god is paying a visit.” Climb onto a nearby tree and shoot it down. Once it falls, pet the Chijiko. Doing this will unlock Transformed Art – Cloudspitter (Fire) and reward you with 1 Ninja’s Locks.
Chijiko #4 (Hamamatsu)



This one is flying around the northeast side of Hamamatsu Castle. You can only reach this area after purifying the Hamamatsu Crucible, which opens up the western part of the Hamamatsu region. Once you spot it in the sky, shoot it down, then pet the Chijiko after it lands. This will unlock Transformed Art – Rampage (Seeking) and reward you with 1 Samurai’s Locks.
Chijiko #5 (Maisaka)



You will find this one flying around the far south of the Maisaka region. As you move past the Enshu Coast Shrine and head toward the southern end of The Haunting Cave, look up, you will see it hovering in the sky. Shoot it down, then pet the Chijiko once it lands. Doing this unlocks Transformed Art – Wagon Kick (Water) and rewards you with 1 Ninja’s Locks.
Chijiko #6 (Maisaka)


You will find this one west of the Maisaka Junction Shrine. From the shrine, head west into the woods and look up and you will spot the Chijiko flying in the sky. Because of the tall trees, it’s hard to aim from the ground. To get a clear shot, climb to the top of the nearby hill, close to the Chijiko’s map marker. From there, shoot it down, then pet the Chijiko after it lands. This will unlock Transformed Art – Leaping Strike (Fire) and reward you with 1 Ninja’s Locks.
Chijiko #7 (Lake Sanaru)


You will find this Chijiko flying high above Lake Sanaru Port. Before you try to take it down, make sure you clear the nearby Enemy Base, so you can aim without being interrupted. Once the area is safe, shoot the Chijiko out of the sky and pet it after it lands. Doing this unlocks Transformed Art – Lightning Blade (Lightning) and rewards you with 1 Samurai’s Locks.
Chijiko #8 (Lake Sanaru)



You will find this Chijiko flying near the cliff east of the Lake Sanaru (North) Shrine. From the shrine, head east toward the cliff overlooking the lake, following the Chijiko icon on your minimap. Look out over the water you will see it hovering above the lake, right next to the cliff. From the cliffside, shoot it down, then pet the Chijiko after it lands. This unlocks Transformed Art – God of Wind (Wind) and rewards you with 1 Samurai’s Locks.
Chijiko #9 (Mikatagahara)


You will spot this Chijiko flying above the water near Otsuri Bridge. Head to the nearby cliffside, where you will have a clear view of it in the air. From there, shoot it down, then pet the Chijiko once it lands. This will unlock Transformed Art – Dragonfly Reversal (Pierce) and reward you with 1 Ninja’s Locks.
Chijiko #10 (Mikatagahara)


You will find this Chijiko flying above the Enemy Base in Mikatagahara. Before you do anything, clear out the Enemy Base so you can aim without enemies getting in the way. To get a clean shot, move to the southwest side of the base – this gives you the right angle to hit it in the air. Shoot it down, then pet the Chijiko after it lands. This unlocks Transformed Art – Retrograde Flow (Water) and rewards you with 1 Samurai’s Locks.
Chijiko #11 (Hamamatsu Hill)


You will find this Chijiko on the western side of the Hachiman Shrine path if you’re coming from the Hamamatsu Castle area. As you walk along the path, look toward the cliffside – you will see it flying nearby. Shoot it down from the sky, then pet the Chijiko once it lands. Doing this unlocks Transformed Art – Sign of the Cross (Pierce) and rewards you with 1 Samurai’s Locks.
Chijiko #12 (Hamamatsu Hill)


You will find this Chijiko flying on the southwest side of the Mikatagahara Junction Shrine, close to a lake-side cliff. Head in that direction and look up – you should spot it hovering in the air. Shoot it down, then pet the Chijiko after it lands. This will unlock Transformed Art – Heaven’s Clash (Wind) and reward you with 1 Ninja’s Locks.
Chijiko #13 (Hamamatsu Hill)


You will find this Chijiko north of the Mikatagahara Junction Shrine in the Hamamatsu Hill area. From the shrine, follow the dirt road north, then at the crossroads, turn west toward the Iinoya path. Keep going until you reach the bridge near the river crossing into the Iinoya region. You will see the Chijiko flying near the bridge. From the side of the bridge, shoot it down, then pet the Chijiko after it lands. This unlocks Transformed Art – Windmill (Wind) and rewards you with 1 Samurai’s Locks.
Chijiko #14 (Hamamatsu Hill)


You will find this Chijiko west of the Six Jizo statue that you reach by walking north from the Hachiman Shrine path. This spot is in the central part of Hamamatsu Hill, inside a large wooded area where a few Yokai roam around. It’s best to clear out the Yokai first, so you can aim safely without interruptions. Once the area is clear, move to a higher spot to get a clear view of the sky. Shoot the Chijiko down, then pet it after it lands. Doing this unlocks Transformed Art – Sky Piercer (Fire) and rewards you with 1 Ninja’s Locks.
Chijiko #15 (Lake Hamana)


You will find this Chijiko flying on the eastern side of Horie Castle, near the shore where a few boats are docked. The area is full of Yokai, so it’s best to clear the shoreline first before trying to aim. Once the area is safe, shoot the Chijiko out of the sky, then pet it after it lands. This unlocks Transformed Art – Abscission (Combo) and rewards you with 1 Ninja’s Locks.
Chijiko #16 (Iinoya)


You will find this Chijiko north of the Great Ginkgo Approach Shrine, flying near the cliffside inside an Enemy Base. As you work on clearing the Enemy Base, you can already keep an eye on it in the sky. From the cliffside, shoot the Chijiko down, then pet it after it lands. Doing this unlocks Transformed Art – Greased Lightning (Lightning) and rewards you with 1 Ninja’s Locks.
Chijiko #17 (Iinoya)



You will find this Chijiko northwest of the Enemy Base near the Great Ginkgo Approach Shrine. From the Enemy Base, head northwest toward the cliff by the river and look up – you will see it flying in the sky. From the cliffside, shoot it down, then pet the Chijiko after it lands. This unlocks Transformed Art – Raijin (Lightning) and rewards you with 1 Samurai’s Locks.
Chijiko #18 (Iinoya)


You will find this Chijiko south of the Sengan Waterfall Shrine. Look across the area and you will spot it flying on the other side of the cliff. Move to the cliff edge to get a clear shot, shoot it down, then pet the Chijiko once it lands. This unlocks Transformed Art – Whirlwind (Wind) and rewards you with 1 Ninja’s Locks.
Chijiko #19 (Futamata Road)


You will find this Chijiko east of the Silver Grass Meadow Shrine. From the shrine, follow the stream heading east. As you near the end of the stream, look up – you will see the Chijiko flying in the sky. Shoot it down, then pet the Chijiko after it lands. This unlocks Transformed Art – Mad Spinner (Wind) and rewards you with 1 Samurai’s Locks.
Chijiko #20 (Futamata Road)


You will find this Chijiko northeast of the Juji Fortress East Shrine. There’s an Enemy Base near the shrine, which you can clear first if you want things to be easier. You can also head into the woods and get the Chijiko first, then come back to the base later. From the shrine area, climb up the rocky hill, and you will spot the Chijiko flying near a tree. Shoot it down, then pet the Chijiko after it lands. This unlocks Transformed Art – Crimson Lotus (Fire) and rewards you with 1 Ninja’s Locks.
Chijiko #21 (Futamata)


You will find this Chijiko east of the Futamata Castle – Castle Town Shrine. From the shrine, cross the bridge to the east and stop near the wooden shack. From there, look up, and you will see Chijiko flying in the sky. Shoot it down, then pet the Chijiko after it lands. This will unlock Transformed Art – Cyclone (Wind) and reward you with 1 Samurai’s Locks.
Chijiko #22 (Kamo Village)


You will find this Chijiko west of the Kamo Village Shrine. Head toward the hills on the west side, and look out from the cliff, you will spot it flying in the distance. From the cliffside, shoot it down, then pet the Chijiko after it lands. This unlocks Transformed Art – Limitless (Tough) and rewards you with 1 Samurai’s Locks.
Chijiko #23 (Funaokayama)


Go southwest of the Funaokayama Shrine. Head west into the bamboo forest, and look toward the cliff, you will see it flying near a bamboo tree on the other side. Be careful, as Yokai roam around this area, so clear them out if needed. From the cliffside, shoot the Chijiko down, then pet it after it lands. This unlocks Transformed Art – Mountain Breaker (Lightning) and rewards you with 1 Ninja’s Locks.
Chijiko #24 (Sagano)


This Chijiko is found south of Horinji Temple Bridge Shrine. First, defeat the enemies on the bridge, then move further south toward the Sagano area. From the bridge, look far to the east and you will spot the Chijiko flying in the distance. Shoot it down from the side of the bridge, then pet it after it lands. This will unlock Transformed Art – Morning Moon (Impact) and reward you with 1 Samurai’s Locks.
Chijiko #25 (Sagano)


This Chijiko is located west of Horiike of Arashiyama Shrine. From the shrine, walk west toward the lakeside. Look over the lake and you will see the Chijiko flying above the water. Shoot it down, then pet it once it lands. This will unlock Transformed Art – Water Sword (Water) and give you 1 Ninja’s Locks.
Chijiko #26 (Awawa no Tsuji)


You can find this Chijiko north of Awawa no Tsuji Shrine. From the shrine, head north toward the hillside near the trees. Look closely, you will see the Chijiko flying near a tree. To get a clear shot, climb up onto a nearby roof. Shoot it down, then pet it once it lands. This will unlock Transformed Art – Fire Foot Drill (Jump) and reward you with 1 Ninja’s Locks.
Chijiko #27 (Hachijo)


This Chijiko can be found northwest of Nishiichi Shrine. Look up near the river, you will spot it flying high in the sky. Shoot it down with an arrow, then pet it once it lands. Doing this will unlock Transformed Art – Radiant Moon (Lightning) and reward you with 1 Ninja’s Locks.
Chijiko #28 (Hachijo)


To find the Chijiko, start at the Anneibo Temple Shrine and head north. You will reach a swamp area with a large rock and an enemy standing on top of it. Take out the enemy first, once he’s gone, you will have a clear view and a good angle to spot and shoot the Chijiko.
Chijiko #29 (Hachijo)


You can find the Chijiko by starting at the Filthy Flooded Streets Shrine. Move through the village and head toward the Rokuhara border. When you reach the bridge, look out toward the sea. You will spot the Chijiko floating in the distance above the water, close to some wreckage.
Chijiko #30 (Rokuhara)


The Chijiko can be found in Rokuhara, near the Gion Grove Shrine. From the shrine, move slightly to the right, then keep going forward until you reach the spot shown on the map with a large red crystal and some rocks. Wait there for a moment, and the Chijiko will fly out from behind the crystal.
Chijiko #31 (Shichijo)


You can find Bakumatsu’s first Chijiko by starting at the Nishi Honganji Temple Shrine. From there, travel to the location marked on the map. Once you arrive, climb up the tower using the ladder. From the top, you will have a clear view of the Chijiko.
Chijiko #32 (Shichijo)


The next Chijiko is not too far away and can be found near the Karasuma Shichijo Shrine. From the shrine, take the path on the left and follow it around the village. This path will lead you to a cliff with a clear view of the Chijiko, making it easy to spot from above.
Chijiko #33 (Shijo)


The next Chijiko is not too far away and can be found near the Karasuma Shichijo Shrine. From the shrine, take the path on the left and follow it around the village. This path will lead you to a cliff and you will find the Chijiko
Chijiko #34 (Sanjo)


Start from Shirakawa’s Sanjo Bridge Shrine. From the shrine, cross the bridge into Sanjo. As you near the end of the bridge, look to the left for a small platform sticking out. Step onto it and look straight ahead you will see the Chijiko flying beneath the bridge.
Chijiko #35 (Gion)


You can find this Chijiko by starting at Shirakawa’s Yasaka Shrine. From the shrine, head to the right until you see a rock path going upward. Climb to the top, then go right again and enter the forest area. Look over the edge of the cliff, and you will spot the Chijiko flying below.
Chijiko #36 (Gion)


The Chijiko is on the right-hand path past the Otowa Stairs, up among some demonic rocks. Early along this path, you will spot the Kiyomizu Precipice Shrine. The Chijiko is flying below this area, so drop down from the rocks to the lower platform to reach it. Doing this also lets you unlock the Precipice Shrine, since there’s a Spirit Vein below that helps you get there.
Chijiko #37 (Gion)


The Chijiko is found later in the area, near the Shrine Walk Greatwood Shrine. On the right side, you will see a shrine. Go there and use the Spirit Vein to reach the upper level. From up top, you will be able to see and reach the Chijiko.
Chijiko #38 (Shirakawa)


This Chijiko is found near the Yoshidayama Approach Shrine. From the shrine, head left and walk into the forest until you reach a cliff edge. The Chijiko is flying right near the edge of the cliff.
Chijiko #39 (Nijo Castle)


You can find the Chijiko in the northern part of the area, near the Nijo Castle Ruins Lake Shrine. From the shrine, turn around and use the Spirit Vein to reach the top of the temple. Once you’re up there, you will have a clear view, making it easy to spot and shoot down the Chijiko.
Chijiko #40 (Nijo Castle)


Start by spawning at the Horikawa Market area, then make your way to the upper west side of the map. Once you reach the gate, look to the right, and you will see the Chijiko floating near the water.
Chijiko #41 (Mibu)


Head near the Main Gate Shrine. From the shrine, turn around and go through the tunnel until you reach the spot marked on the map. Once you’re there, look up, and you will see the Chijiko flying above. Take your time to line up a good shot, as the angle can be a bit tricky.
Chijiko #42 (Kyoto Imperial Palace)


You can find the Chijiko on the left side of the Imperial Palace, near the Maruta Riverbed Shrine. From the shrine, head north until you reach a cliff edge. Look out into the distance, you will see the Chijiko flying far away, ready to be shot.
Chijiko #43 (Kyoto Imperial Palace)


The Chijiko is found near the Imperial Palace Shrine, on the right side of the Kyoto Imperial Palace. Make your way to the locked gate near the eastern edge, then look up into the sky. Chijiko is far off in the distance.
