In The Outer Worlds 2 Advanced Decryption Keys are special items used to unlock High Security Lockboxes, which often contain rare gear, weapons, or valuable loot. These keys aren’t easy to come by you’ll need to either buy them from select vendors or find them hidden across different areas and quests. This guide covers all the Advanced Decryption Key locations, explaining exactly where to find them and how to use them once you have them.
All Advanced Decryption Keys Location
You can get Advanced Decryption Keys in two main ways by buying them in small quantities from certain vendors, or by finding them scattered across the world. Once you’ve collected a few, head back to your ship, the Incognito. In the corridor that connects the inside and outside of the ship, there’s a special decryption machine. Interact with it to use your keys and unlock High Security Lockboxes, which contain rare loot and valuable rewards.
1. Advanced Decryption Key
You’ll get your first Advanced Decryption Key automatically during the main story quest “A Healthy Improvement.” Use it to open Auntie’s Acidic Dematerializer Lockbox early in the game.
2. Advanced Decryption Key
Visit Arthur Cromby at the More Perfect Goods shop. You can buy an Advanced Decryption Key directly from his store.
3. Advanced Decryption Key
Head into the Ministry of Accuracy during the “Refreshing Bit of News” side quest. You’ll find both an Advanced Decryption Key and a locked Security Lockbox inside the facility.
4. Advanced Decryption Key
Just north of the Ministry of Accuracy, there’s another key sitting in a small structure or outpost. Check the area carefully it’s easy to miss.
5. Advanced Decryption Key
Close to Skycutter A102, you’ll find a damaged electrical area. You’ll need some Engineering skill to access it safely and grab the key.
6. Advanced Decryption Key
During the “Who Else But Us” side quest, check the Ground Deck of Skycutter A102. The key is near the quest area, sitting close to a workbench.
7 & 8. Advanced Decryption Keys
There are two separate Advanced Decryption Keys hidden in Sovereign’s Sweet Spire Grove. Search the grove thoroughly one is near a crate, and another near a small camp setup.
9. Advanced Decryption Key
Travel to the Fairfield Fisherman Outpost. The key is located inside the main building, sitting on a table.
10 & 11. Advanced Decryption Keys
Head to the Automech Repair Center and talk to Hezel’s Automated Wares and Repairs. This vendor sells two Advanced Decryption Keys.
12. Advanced Decryption Key
Complete the “Diabolical Drones of Doom” task to earn another key as a quest reward.
13. Advanced Decryption Key
Finish the “Schemes of the Secret Smugglers” side quest to receive one more Advanced Decryption Key as a reward.
14 & 15. Advanced Decryption Keys
In the southern area, use a Substation Repair Kit and a Charged Substation Fuse to restore power. Completing this event will reward you with two keys.
16. Advanced Decryption Key
During the main quest “The Saboteur of Paradise,” there’s a secret, missable key inside the Vox Relay. Use your Observation skill to find it don’t skip this one.
17 & 18. Advanced Decryption Keys
Still inside the Vox Relay during the same quest, you can find two more Advanced Decryption Keys before completing the mission. Check all lockers and containers carefully.
