Ainu Items are an important collectible in Ghost of Yotei. You will need them to upgrade the Robes of Sitturaynu armor, which unlocks special bonuses the more you improve it. There are 30 Ainu Items in total, and none of them are missable. You can collect them anytime, even after finishing the main story. This guide shows you where to find all of them, step by step.
All 30 Ainu Item Locations & Rewards
Collecting Ainu Items is worth it because they’re used to upgrade the Robes of Sitturaynu armor. Once upgraded, this armor can even summon a golden bird that guides you to other collectibles. When you wear the Robes of Sitturaynu, a green firefly will also appear whenever you’re close to an Ainu Item, making them much easier to track down. Don’t worry none of these items are missable. Even after finishing the main story, you can still explore in free-roam and collect them all at your own pace.

Repunkur Canteen – A Drink with a Stranger


You can only get this during the side tale A Drink with a Stranger. Speak to the old man at Ainu Askur Trader. He will lead you toward a cliff with a Pillar of the Fallen. Follow him to the ledge, climb down, and you will automatically pick up the item it’s part of the quest so you can’t miss it.
Kuyoy – The Soul of an Instrumen



It’s near Boar Eye Cave on a cliff hanging from a tree at the edge of the cliff. It is basically an animal bladder transformed into a water keeping equipment. It is their way of honouring the animals that would even help them after their death.
Ikupausy – The Ainu Heirloom



Head to a small camp along the Nupur River. Examine a pile of leaves under a big tree to find the Item of Ainu Craft. Check it in your inventory (Key Items menu) to count it as an Ainu Item. Doing this also unlocks the side tale The Ainu Heirloom. It is a ceremonial rod used a heirloom, which is passed down to generations. Each family has a specific rod that was used in that family only.
Newsar-kamuy


You will find it at the east of Nayoro Falls, at the very edge of the map. Look for a wooden pole with an arrow stuck in it. It was a totem used by the hunters when the bear that was killed cannot be returned to the village as it was too big, so they mark the area where the body of bear was.
Raoma



At the bottom of the beach, right between two waterfalls, there lies the Raoma Ainu on the ground. It is basically a fisherman’s trap, used to trap fish by using the water currents to lead the fish into the trap.
Makiri



Found in the middle of Lake Kuttara. To find it, you need to swim in the lake and reach a small island in the middle of the lake. It is basically a knife used in daily work, especially in maintaining fishing equipment like nets or ropes.
Ku-e-shinok Ring


You will find it north of Saito Recruitment Camp, under a tree beside a waterfall. It was a children’s toy, where they had to throw an arrow inside the ring when the ring was thrown in the air.
Cispo



You will find it by climbing up a cliff, south of Matsumae Outpost, on top of a tree log overlooking a river. It was a needle considered so valuable that women use to carry it with them all the time.
Clothes for the dead


You will find it inside the burned house at howling cove. You can find it lying on the ground. These clothes were made for the deceased and were burned with them.
Traded Furs



You will find it to the left of two waterfalls, just outside the water pool lying at the bottom of the cliff. You will also find flowers which you can collect. These furs were generally from otters and highly valuable, and used to be traded with the foreigners.
Kiray



You will find it at the very edge of a high cliff at the western edge of Ishikari Plain, looking out over the ocean. It is basically a comb where it is given as a gift. Whenever it is lost people used to tell it got bored from the owner and went to travel.
Tepkeri


You will find it on top of the cliff directly south of Prospector’s Camp lying on the ground. It is basically a fish skin shoe which is great for slippery surfaces.
Tamasai



You will find it at Bamboo Rock beside a bamboo at the edge of cliff. Fast travel there and it will be right in front of you. It is a beaded necklace passed down from the mothers to there daughters, and is generally used in ceremonial gatherings.
Kuwari



North of “Yamane Bluffs” on the map. Look for an Ainu man standing by a deer; he will give you the item automatically after you speak. It is a trap setup by a hunter and when an animal triggers it, it will shoot an arrow.
Tanpakuop




You will find it on top of a hill in Shizunai Woods, it is marked on the map above. Reach the location amd you will find a cliff here. Use the bamboo bridge to reach the cliff. Then climb up to find the Tanpakuop.
Karop



Reach the location marked on the map above. Here you will find a hut. You will find the Karo inside the hut. Enter the hut and look for the wooden boxes, near the entrance. On top of the bos, you will find the Karop.
Tesma – The Legend of Opusnupuri






This one is tied to the mythic tale The Legend of Opusnupuri. During the quest, you will break down a wall in the south of Nayoro Wilds. After climbing and using the grappling hook, check the alcove on the left to grab the Ainu Item.
Marek



In northern Nayoro Wilds, along Nupur River. Check the wooden sticks by the rocks, you will find the Aniu there. It was a fishing spear used by the Ainu to hunt fishes like Salmon.
Hos



On top of a mountain cliff in Sakuru Woods, It is marked on the map above. It was a shin gaurd used to protect the wearer during fieldwork or hunting and it was also used as a gift from young woman to young men.
Sinta



In a small campsite on the southern shore of frozen Sarobetsu Lake you will find the Sinata. It was a child cradle made from wood, cotton and grass.
Sitopera



West of Teshio Ridge, at the base of a snowy mountain with a Pillar of the Fallen. Look for a little camp near the road. You will find it near the campfire. It was a big spatula used during cooking
Citarpe Cape



At Hakodate Shore in a small woodcutter’s camp. You will find it lying on the ground. It was earlier used in the rain so that the wearer is dry.
Niesike



East of Weeping Sakura Graveyard, in a small roadside camp hidden in the woods. You will find it on a tree cutting place near the axe.
Ninketeyep



You will find it west of Windy Meadow, at the edge of the map, inside a small camp on a rock. It is a tool used to dry a bear’s gall bladder. It was later used as a medicine for many ailments.
Mukkuri




Near the river in a camp surrounded by trees. Cut through the bamboo to enter and find it inside on a rock. It is a mouth harp played by women, and a similar instrument is also used by men for hunting.
Ninkari – The Soul of an Instrument



You will find it after completing the Ainu Musician side quest as a reward in Tokagachi Range at Yubari lake. It is a hooped earrings made up by brass. It was worn both by the men and women.
Menokomakir





Found in Hunting Camp Hideout, accessible via Sarufutsu Lighthouse. Solve the fox statue puzzle (make pairs face each other, then place the little statues on pedestals). Enter the first big building past the bodies to collect the item.
Matampus




Inside Cape Inari Hideout, located in the back building. You will reach it by going through Cape Inari Shrine and lighting a series of lanterns in the caves. Inside the house you will find it on the table.
Mat Loom



In Miyama Village enemy camp. Search the straw hut in the southeast corner near the gate. Inside it you will find the Mat Loom beside some cargo. It is a wooden frame with stones hanging from it. It was earlier used to make decorative maps.
Lacquerware



Inside Saito Artillery Outpost, at the edge of the camp next to a broken fence by a watchtower. You will find it lying on the ground. It was a decorative piece used by the Ainu and sometimes trade it with foreigners.
