The Signal Redirector is likely the first essential tool you’ll come across in Atomfall, as you’ll need it right after entering the bunker—there’s a junction box directly ahead that requires it to switch on. As you continue your journey, you’ll encounter many more of these boxes, which are crucial for tasks like unlocking doors and disabling security systems. This makes the Signal Redirector a vital piece of equipment, though finding one isn’t exactly straightforward.
There are two main ways to obtain a Signal Redirector in Atomfall, but one of them demands significantly more effort and involves an investigation that can lead to irreversible consequences. If you’re aiming to get your hands on a Signal Redirector as quickly as possible, here’s the fastest route.
Fastest Way to Get a Signal Redirector in Atomfall

One Signal Redirector can be found inside Windfall’s Crate, located within the Protocol Field Station in Skethermoor. However, you’ll need the Windfall Key to open it. While there are optional leads you can follow—such as The Little Tea Room and The Windfall Shipment—they aren’t necessary. For the most direct path to securing the Signal Redirector, here’s what you need to do:
Head to the Protocol Workshop in Skethermoor, located at coordinates 38.0E, 77.4N. If you’re coming from Wyndham Village, simply follow the northern boundary of Skethermoor until you reach it. Look for a hatch marked “Access L3” to enter the area. Inside, be prepared to encounter plenty of Protocol soldiers. Even if you’ve earned Captain Sims’ favor, they’ll still treat you as a trespasser and attack on sight. Once you’re inside, go through the door at the far end, turn right, then take the next left into the bathroom. Squeeze through the gap in one of the stalls and climb over the ledge.
There, you’ll discover the body of a man named Windfall slumped against the wall. Next to him, you’ll find a note and the Windfall Keycard—exactly what you need. The note points you toward the Protocol Field Station in Skethermoor, so that’s your next destination.
How to Find the Signal Redirector in the Protocol Field Station

The next bunker you need to access is marked “Access L2” and located at coordinates 41.3E, 74.9N. Unlike the previous one, this area is also guarded by soldiers patrolling the surface. You can slip past them by sneaking through the gate behind their position—just be extra cautious.
Inside, you’ll once again face a heavily guarded Protocol bunker. You can choose to go in guns blazing or stealth your way through to avoid detection. Make your way down the long tunnel until you reach the end. On your right, you’ll spot a pneumatic tube, and to the left, another corridor.
Turn left and look for a green door on your left side. In the far corner of that room, you’ll find a note titled “A Crate From the Windfall Shipment?” and a BARD supply box labeled “Windfall’s Crate.” Inside the crate, you’ll get a Training Stimulant, a First Aid Kit, and—most importantly—the Signal Redirector.
You can try out the Signal Redirector immediately, as there are two switches inside the Protocol Field Bunker that require it. And if you’re not sure how to use it, we’ve explained its mechanics in more detail at the end of this guide.
How to Get the Signal Redirector Through the Dr. Garrow Investigation
If you’d rather avoid trespassing through two heavily guarded Protocol bunkers and taking down waves of soldiers, there’s an alternative method to obtain the Signal Redirector—though it still mostly takes place in Skethermoor. Here’s how to go about it:
While exploring Wyndham and the wider quarantine zone, you’ll eventually hear about Dr. Garrow, who’s been imprisoned by Protocol in Skethermoor Prison. To keep it brief: she possesses the other Signal Redirector. To gain access to her, you can earn Captain Sims’ trust in Wyndham by feeding him intel about the locals. The simplest way? Inform him there’s been a murder at the church. He’ll then assign you to interrogate Dr. Garrow, giving you a pass that prevents Protocol soldiers from becoming hostile—both in the nearby camp and inside the prison.
That said, working with Protocol isn’t mandatory. If you prefer to go it alone, simply head to Skethermoor Prison at coordinates 41.1E, 70.8N. Once inside, go to the room at the bottom of the stairs and pick up the Security Keycard. Use it on the panel to open the gate leading to the Holding Cells. On the desk, you’ll also find a note titled “Prisoner Transfer: Diane Garrow”, which reveals she’s being held at the back of the facility in solitary confinement. It also mentions an “unknown electrical device” located in the Restricted Access Security storage cupboard.
If you’ve earned Protocol’s permission, you can stroll right through the Holding Cells without resistance. Proceed through the door marked Lower Floor, descend the stairs, and head through the door across the bridge. While it’s not essential to grab the Signal Redirector, we recommend exploring the prison while it’s safe—there’s plenty of loot, and once you interact with Dr. Garrow, the entire base may become hostile, making future exploration much riskier.
In the Restricted Access area, you’ll find Dr. Garrow in a cell at the center of the floor. She’ll inform you that the Signal Redirector is key to helping her escape. Locate the Security Room nearby, and inside, you’ll find the Signal Redirector sitting right on a shelf—yours for the taking. Voila!
Once you’ve secured the Signal Redirector, the next move is entirely up to you. If you choose to help Dr. Garrow escape, use the Signal Redirector on the switch located inside a nearby room—reach it by climbing up to a ledge. This will unlock the Control Room door, where you can pull a lever to release all prisoners in the facility. Be warned: this action will immediately turn the Protocol guards hostile, making your escape significantly more challenging. Alternatively, if you’d rather stick with Protocol, you can speak with Dr. Garrow again and then report back to Captain Sims to stay in his good graces.
What to Do After Getting the Signal Redirector
Similar to the Atomfall Metal Detector, the Signal Redirector will emit a buzzing sound when you’re near a signal box. To use it, press Triangle (PlayStation) or Y (Xbox) to equip it, aim at the signal box using L2/LT, and once it highlights in white, press R2/RT to switch the signal.
Signal boxes with two outputs will alternate between them, while others may have three outputs—so be careful to activate the correct one. If you’re unsure which output powers what, follow the yellow cables leading out of the box to trace their destinations.
