The Price of Rice Quest
The Price of Rice is a main quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, continuing the A Prayer for Oni storyline. It takes place in the Omi region and becomes available immediately after completing A Talk with a Lady. The quest is recommended for players at Level 21. Completing it rewards you with 1000 EXP.
In this mission, you will uncover the suffering of Omi’s peasants, who have been burdened with unfair taxes by the corrupt Daikan. Your task is to intervene and bring justice, setting the stage for another key moment in The Mourner questline.
Meet Kuma
When you start the Price of Rice quest, you’ll need to find Kuma. The quest description says he’s in the Northern Shimmering Fields, but he’s actually closer to the western side of Azuchi. Just follow the map marker, and you’ll spot him easily.
Kuma will then send you to speak with some farmers nearby, and their locations are already marked on the map. When you talk to them, they’ll mention a drunken samurai causing trouble in the fields who needs to be dealt with. This samurai is Level 22 and hits pretty hard, so it’s best to play as Yasuke for a fair fight. He may not have many unique moves yet, but he’s still a tough opponent.
After defeating the drunken samurai, return to the farmers, and they’ll ask you to deal with his boss, a corrupt daikan. His location is in Omi near the Daikan Mansion, and we’ve marked it on the map for you.
Once you reach the mansion, you’ll find the corrupt daikan standing around, making for an easy assassination without a fight. Just be ready to move quickly, as the guards will rush in once he’s taken down. After that, head back to Kuma to wrap up the mission and progress further in The Mourner’s questline.
