Nerscylla, the poisonous arachnid of Monster Hunter Wilds, is a special threat to hunters after its prized claws. Its heavy appendages, found on the left side of the creature’s face, are not only precious crafting material, but also a potent defensive reaction. This tutorial will detail the precise location of Nerscylla’s claws, the optimal methods to break them, and the optimal methods of locating Nerscylla in the Basin, Cliffs, and Wyveria regions so that you can acquire the materials your equipment requires.
Nerscylla Claw Location in MH Wilds
In order to acquire Nerscylla Claws, the hunters must snap off the big claw found on the left part of the face of Nerscylla. It is not recommended to mistake this with the mouth pincers of the creature, which sometimes protrude. The claws are very resilient and can withstand frontal attacks, so it is hard to cause damage or snap them off.
The best strategy for getting Nerscylla Claws is to fight from beneath the monster, positioning yourself toward its left side. While both claws can be attacked, only the left one can be broken off to obtain the material. The front of the claw deflects attacks, but the softer area behind it is vulnerable. By focusing attacks on the weaker section, hunters can eventually break the claw off, even without fully wounding it.
Fighting in Area 4 of the cliffs offers an advantage, as Nerscylla can get stuck in the webbing, leaving its claw exposed and unprotected. Additionally, standing underneath the creature is relatively safe since many of its attacks lunge forward, allowing hunters to dodge in the opposite direction and stay out of harm’s way.
Even after breaking off a claw and obtaining a Nerscylla Claw, there’s still a chance to get another one by carving the body after the hunt. If extra claws aren’t needed, they can always be converted into Armor Spheres.
Nerscyllas Location In Monster Hunter Wilds
Nerscyllas are located in three places: the Basin, the Cliffs, and Wyveria. Technically, it is possible to go there and look for the purple spider mark on the map to find one, but it is not necessary, optional quests exist.
By conversing with Alma and going to the Optional Quests menu, hunters are able to locate quests specifically for hunting or killing a Nerscylla. Taking one of these quests will bring them immediately to an area where a Nerscylla is present, with scout flies having tracked the monster the moment the quest has been taken.
