The Gore Magala Nyctgem has a small drop rate: there’s a 3% chance of getting it as a Target Reward, a 4% chance from carving the body, and a 7% chance from carving its severed tail. You can find Gore Magala in the Iceshard Cliffs region of the game. To fight this monster, simply pick the “Misty Depths” optional quest, which lets you hunt the dragon.
How to Defeat the Gore Magala in MH Wilds
Gore Magala are fearsome monsters that cloak themselves in their large, black wings, almost like wearing a dark overcoat. They lack traditional eyes, relying instead on scattering fine scales from their wings to sense their prey. When their power surges, antennae emerge from their heads, and they spread their wings wide, entering a highly aggressive Frenzy State. Gore Magala Weakness in MH Wilds
Gore Magala is most vulnerable to Fire, Thunder, and Dragon elements. If you break it down, both Thunder and Ice have a 1-star effectiveness, while Dragon is mostly 1-star as well, though it works best when targeting Gore Magala’s antenna.
Out of all its elemental weaknesses, Fire deals the most damage, especially when aimed at its Antenna, Left Wingarm, and Right Wingarm. When choosing a weapon, go for either a blunt or severing weapon. Severing weapons have a slight edge since they can deal more damage to the Head and Antenna. As for status effects, Gore Magala has a 2-star weakness to Blastblight and Exhaust, while all other status effects are at 1-star.
How to Beat Gore Magala
Gore Magala’s weakest spot is its mouth, so focus your attacks there for maximum damage. You can also break its Antenna and Wings, and with the right weapon, you can sever its Tail. Breaking the Antenna is especially useful since it stops Gore Magala from entering its Frenzy state.
It has two special attacks: Strong Roar and Frenzy. To counter Strong Roar, equip Earplugs to avoid being stunned. As for Frenzy, if you’re hit, you’ll get infected. If you don’t act quickly, the infection will fully take hold, dealing increasing damage over time and slowing your natural healing. To fight off the Frenzy, use a Nulberry, Hot Drink, or Antivirus or better yet, keep attacking while you’re infected to prevent the effect from taking over. When using traps, only Shock Traps and Pitfall Traps work on Gore Magala, so skip the Flash and Screamer Pods, they won’t have any effect.
