Bookworms

Description: Complete All Side Stories

Trophy Rarity: Gold

Chapter/Subchapter: Various

Unlock the Bookworms trophy by completing all twelve side stories in the game. Below is the chronological order in which they appear:

Chapter 2: Neon Revenge

  • The Legend of the Sandfish
  • Farmlife
  • Mountain Hike

Chapter 3: Hopes of Spring

  • Train Heist
  • Gameshow
  • Collapsing Star

Chapter 4: Final Dawn

  • Kites
  • Moon Market
  • Notebook

Chapter 5: Rise of the Dragon Realm

  • Slopes of War
  • Space Escape
  • Birthday Cake

Eleven of these twelve side stories are naturally encountered along the main path, with Mio or Zoe giving dialogue cues when you’re near one, making them hard to miss if you’re paying attention.

The only exception is Mountain Hike in Neon Revenge. Unlike the others, this side story has no audio cues. In the Big City Life subchapter, you’ll find a row of portable toilets, which are required for the main story.

To access Mountain Hike:

  • Have Mio sit inside one of the toilets.
  • Zoe can then use her gravity whip to pick it up.
  • Behind this area, there’s an elevated platform with the side story’s warp point.
  • Zoe must throw Mio (in the toilet) across the gap, allowing Mio to drop a ladder for Zoe to climb.

Potion Chef

Description: I Need Your Strongest Potions

Trophy Rarity: Silver

Chapter/Subchapter: Final Dawn — Moon Market Side Story

Early in the Moon Market side story, after passing the first cat gate, Mio and Zoe will enter a charming, magical town square reminiscent of Harry Potter. On the right side, you’ll find a potion shop stocked with ingredients and a usable cauldron.

To unlock the Potion Chef trophy, craft and drink four or five different potions. Each potion requires two ingredients, so experiment with various combinations, observe the effects, and repeat the process. Once you’ve tested enough unique potions, the trophy will unlock.

Chair The Load

Description: Get Off Me…

Trophy Rarity: Bronze

Chapter/Subchapter: Final Dawn — Moon Market Side Story

In the same Moon Market town square where you earned the Potion Chef trophy, you’ll find a bookstore with a mole standing outside. It’s located on the west side of the square, down a small alley.

To unlock this trophy:

  • Pick up a magic wand from the white podium outside the bookstore.
  • Use the wand to transform your partner into different objects.
  • Keep casting until they turn into a chair.
  • Sit on your transformed partner to complete the trophy.

You Are Not A Robot

Description: Completely Automated Public Turing Test To Tell Computers And Humans Apart

Trophy Rarity: Gold

Chapter/Subchapter: Neon Revenge — Gravity Bike

The You Are Not a Robot trophy is earned by successfully disarming the cell phone’s self-destruct sequence during the gravity bike chase. The process is intentionally chaotic and designed to make you fail a few times, but it is possible to succeed.

To disarm the phone before time runs out, Zoe must:

  • Swipe to unlock: Tap the right edge of the screen while moving the joystick left.
  • Facial recognition: Keep Zoe’s face centered in the frame.
  • Skip CAPTCHAs: Click “Skip” on all three challenges.
  • Accept Terms & Conditions: Click the blue Terms & Conditions link, then mash “Next” until an unknown caller interrupts—decline the call. Continue mashing “Next” and accept when the button appears.
  • Deactivate Self-Destruction: Check all three boxes on the left and tap the button.
  • Enter text correctly: Type bke and select it from predictive text to prevent autocorrect. Repeat with xqj.
  • Finalize the process: Press Enter, and an authentication bar will start loading.

Once this is done, Mio just needs to survive the rest of the gravity bike chase, and the trophy is yours!

Sisters: A Tale Of Two Besties

Description: Relax On All 6 Benches

Trophy Rarity: Gold

Chapter/Subchapter: Various

To earn this trophy, Zoe and Mio must sit together on six different benches scattered throughout Chapters 2 to 7. Each bench unlocks a brief piece of dialogue. Once all six benches have been found and used, the trophy will unlock. Here’s how you can locate all six bench:

1. Neon Revenge — Big City Life

Found shortly after the rooftop swimming pool. After using your grappling hook to leave the pool area, jump to the next building’s balcony. The bench is immediately on your left.

2. Hopes of Spring — Halls of Ice

Inside the Ice King’s castle, near the sliding ice block puzzle. Look for an open balcony with an ornate bench before moving to the next area.

3. Final Dawn — Soaring Desperados

After discarding your jetpacks, move past the red and blue energy doors. The bench is directly ahead, facing large windows.

4. Rise of the Dragon Realm — Water Temple

After solving the water wheel puzzle, where Zoe clings to moss-covered wheels and Mio controls their direction, the bench is on a small stone ledge overlooking a canyon with a giant broken dragon egg in the background.

5. Isolation — Waste Depot

After Mio guides Zoe across sludge water using a hacked platform, climb a small hill. At the top, there’s a drop-ship Mio can hack—but before proceeding, find the bench tucked in a corner on the same platform.

6. The Hollow — Mosaic of Memories

Located just after a long chain climb and a spinning light bridge puzzle. Upon landing on a ledge near a broken building, the bench will be immediately visible on the left.

Once all six benches have been used, the trophy will unlock.

One Bird, Three Stones

Description: You Couldn’t Have Known

Trophy Rarity: Bronze

Chapter/Subchapter: Hopes of Spring — Halls of Ice

At the start of the Halls of Ice subchapter, you’ll find a balcony with a snowman and three large snowballs. To unlock the trophy, have Mio transform into ape form and throw all three snowballs. The third one will hit a distant bird, triggering the trophy.

Cold Potato

Description: Complete The Gameshow Without The Bomb Exploding

Trophy Rarity: Gold

Chapter/Subchapter: Hopes of Spring — Gameshow Side Story

The Cold Potato trophy is one of the most challenging achievements in Split Fiction. To earn it, you must survive all seven rounds of Mio’s Gameshow side story without letting the bomb detonate even once.

The bomb will explode if held too long, so you must throw it to your partner before the timer runs out. Each successful pass resets the timer. At the end of each round, one player must open the bomb receptacle while the other deposits the bomb inside.

General Tips:

  • Take your time: There’s no overall time limit, so play cautiously.
  • Aim your throws: Make sure you’re facing your partner before tossing the bomb; otherwise, it may go out of reach and detonate.
  • Time your catches: The receiving player can press the catch button slightly before the bomb arrives. A white aura indicates the catch radius.
  • Ignore the ticking sound: The bomb’s timer is more forgiving than it seems.
  • Falling isn’t a fail: If a player falls off the stage and respawns without the bomb, the attempt remains valid.
  • Communicate: Verbally coordinate each throw with your teammate to avoid mistakes.

No checkpoint reloads: If the bomb explodes, you must restart the entire side story.

Round Breakdown:

  • Training Round
  • Simply run to the end and pass the bomb back and forth four times.
  • Use this to get comfortable with the mechanics and communication.
  • Round 1
  • Zoe starts with the bomb. Sprint straight to the bomb receptacle.
  • Only one pass is needed: Zoe to Mio, then Mio deposits the bomb.
  • Round 2
  • A glass wall divides the stage, so passes must be made in midair.
  • Use the green circle launchers to jump high enough for a safe toss.
  • Mio starts with the bomb. If you sprint, only one airborne pass is required.
  • Round 3
  • Features fire barriers and multiple obstacles.
  • Safest strategy:
  • 1. Throw before the first fire wall.
  • 2. Sprint forward and pass again between the two fire walls.
  • 3. After the second fire wall, sprint to the end, make a final toss, and deposit the bomb.
  • Round 4
  • Introduces a tank-like robot that chases the bomb holder.
  • Best strategy: Make three passes.
  • 1. Mio starts by sprinting left to buy time.
  • 2. Pass back and forth whenever the tank gets too close.
  • 3. Avoid the gap between the tank area and the final platform.
  • Round 5
  • The most difficult round, with moving platforms, fire, and gravity boosters.
  • No set number of throws—pass the bomb frequently for safety.
  • Take your time and call out every throw.
  • Final Round
  • Your goal is to destroy the gameshow host robot.
  • Watch out for the particle atomizer—it will explode if you’re caught in its center.
  • Safest approach: Wait for the atomizer to detonate before moving.
  • Pass the bomb cautiously and be extra careful with the gravity booster at the end.
  • The landing zone on the robot’s head is small, so aim your jump carefully.
  • Once both players reach the top, one opens the hatch while the other deposits the bomb.

Successfully complete all seven rounds without a detonation, and the Cold Potato trophy is yours!

Tazed And Confused

Description: Adding Insult To Injury

Trophy Rarity: Bronze

Chapter/Subchapter: Isolation — Cell Blocks

During the Cell Blocks subchapter in Isolation, Mio gains control of a small vehicle equipped with an extendable taser snout as part of the main story.

To unlock the Tazed and Confused trophy, Mio must use the vehicle’s taser to shock Zoe, resulting in her demise. This is an unavoidable story segment, so the opportunity won’t be missed.

Locked Up

Description: No Way Out

Trophy Rarity: Bronze

Chapter/Subchapter: Isolation — Maximum Security

At the start of the Maximum Security subchapter in Isolation, Mio and Zoe will encounter a fork in the path, each route filled with laser beams.

After crossing either path, they’ll reunite near a control panel and an empty jail cell crate on the left. To unlock the Locked Up trophy, one player must step inside the crate while the other activates the control panel, trapping their partner inside.

Huffing And Puffing

Description: It’s Not The Big Bad Wolf You Have To Worry About

Trophy Rarity: Silver

Chapter/Subchapter: Neon Revenge — Farmlife Side Story

After passing the large open area in Farmlife featuring the giant hog, Pig Zoe and Pig Mio will encounter a talkative pig gazing out of a small brick house’s window.

This scene is a nod to The Three Little Pigs, with Mio taking on the role of the Big Bad Wolf. To earn the trophy, head to the back of the brick house, where a bullseye is painted. Then, use Mio’s fart flight pig ability to smash through the wall and unlock the trophy.

Robot Revolution

Description: Hasta La Vista, Baby

Trophy Rarity: Silver

Chapter/Subchapter: Neon Revenge — Big City Life

During Neon Revenge, you’ll eventually reach a hotel lobby where a robot concierge stands behind the front desk.

Jump over the counter and repeatedly attack the friendly robot until its screen glitches and goes static. Once you stop, the robot will reboot—this time with a menacing grin. As soon as the now-hostile robot retaliates, you’ll unlock the Robot Revolution trophy.

Feed Me

Description: Take A Snack

Trophy Rarity: Bronze

Chapter/Subchapter: Rise of the Dragon Realm — Multiple

The Feed Me trophy is effortlessly earned as long as you take care of your dragon. Throughout most of Rise of the Dragon Realm, you’ll find bushes with large, pinkish berries hanging from their branches. When near these bushes, a button prompt will appear, allowing you to feed your dragon companion.

You can do this both when the dragons are babies and again as adolescents. Simply feeding your dragon once is all it takes to unlock this trophy.

A Friendly Push

Description: Monkey Strong

Trophy Rarity: Bronze

Chapter/Subchapter: Hopes of Spring — The Underlands

Early in Hopes of Spring, Zoe and Mio must remove a giant boulder blocking their path. Once cleared, proceed to the next area, where you’ll find a swing hanging from a tree.

To earn the trophy, have Zoe sit on the swing in her human form. Then, Mio should transform into her ape form and attack Zoe, launching her off the cliff. While Zoe meets an unfortunate fate, you’ll gain a new trophy.

Rose’s Best Friend

Description: You Made Her Cry

Trophy Rarity: Gold

Chapter/Subchapter: Neon Revenge — Play Me Techno

Just before reaching the dance club in Play Me Techno, you’ll come across a city street featuring the Mastodon Petstore. Above the store’s sign, you’ll spot a replica of Cutie the Elephant from Hazelight’s previous game, It Takes Two. To earn the Rose’s Best Friend trophy, the player controlling Zoe must use her gravity whip to tear off a piece of Cutie’s body and hurl it back at the unfortunate elephant.

We’re Gonna Need A Bigger Boat

Description: Duuuun Dun… Duuuun Dun…

Trophy Rarity: Bronze

Chapter/Subchapter: Isolation — Hydration Facility

In the Hydration Facility subchapter of Isolation, Mio’s Metroid-sphere transforms into a boat, allowing her to transport Zoe across the water.

After navigating this section and clearing the part where Zoe’s sphere jumps over several spinning metal arms, keep an eye out before entering the next room. Look to the right, and you’ll spot bubbles rising from the water.

If Mio steers her boat over these bubbles, a giant shark will leap out and devour both characters. While you may not get a bigger boat, you will earn a bronze trophy.

Are We The Baddies?

Description: No Worries, It’s Just A Simulation

Trophy Rarity: Silver

Chapter/Subchapter: Neon Revenge — Play Me Techno

Early in Neon Revenge, Mio must break open windows across a gully using a pink explosive ball to clear a path for Zoe. Once Zoe successfully makes it through the shattered windows, look up to spot a glass walkway filled with unsuspecting pedestrians.

Mio can launch another pink explosive ball across the canyon, which Zoe can catch with her gravity whip. With the explosive in hand, Zoe simply needs to aim at the glass walkway and throw the bomb, sending the pedestrians plummeting to their doom.

Note: If you’re revisiting this area later, the quickest way to get back is by loading into the Legend of the Sandfish side story. Exit the story through the pause menu, and you’ll spawn right where you need to be to unlock the Are We The Baddies? trophy.

The Cake Is Not A Lie

Description: Congratulations, The Test Is Now Over

Trophy Rarity: Gold

Chapter/Subchapter: Final Dawn — Run And Gun

If you’re aiming to collect all of Split Fiction’s trophies without a guide, The Cake Is Not A Lie is one of the trickiest to find. During the side-scrolling, Contra-style section of the Run And Gun subchapter, purple portals will start appearing for Zoe and Mio to use.

In the second area featuring these portals, there’s a hidden chamber that either character can access. Instead of jumping into the floor portal next to a stack of three gray crates, leap off the beam ahead and climb behind the metal wall to the left.

This reveals a secret room containing two more purple portals, a cake, and—most importantly—your latest gold trophy.

Snaaaaaaaaake

Description: Could Friendship Bloom On The Battlefield

Trophy Rarity: Gold

Chapter/Subchapter: Isolation — Prison Courtyard

During the Prison Courtyard section, Mio will control a hacked turret to clear a path for Zoe’s sphere to safely navigate. About halfway through, Zoe will magnetically attach to a wall panel, and Mio will need to shoot the yellow target above to move Zoe into the next stealth area.

Right after crossing this gap, Zoe can find a cardboard box to roll into, wearing it as a disguise—a clear nod to Metal Gear Solid’s Snake.

To unlock the Snaaaaaaaaake trophy, don’t move Zoe any further once she’s inside the box. Instead, Mio must use the turret to snipe and eliminate her while she’s still disguised.

Goin’ Whole Hog

Description: Let It Rip

Trophy Rarity: Silver

Chapter/Subchapter: Neon Revenge — Farmlife Side Story

After unlocking the first apple gate in Farmlife, Zoe and Mio will enter a large area where a massive pig is sound asleep. To earn this trophy, Mio must use her fart flight ability near the sleeping giant. The correct spot to trigger this reaction is right next to the pig’s crossed front hooves.

If done correctly, the pig will respond in the most unpleasant way possible—marking one of the grossest moments in Split Fiction and unlocking your trophy.
