Comaqchi Carapaces are a vital commodity in Monster Hunter Wilds, as they can be used to make strong armor and weapons. Unfortunately, they are not accessible until you’ve reached High Rank, so they will become something that players will require as they make their way deeper into the game. If you’re a new player, develop your character up through the story until you reach the third chapter. After you’ve attained the needed rank, this guide will take you through the optimal means of finding and farming Comaqchi Carapaces effectively.
Comaqchi Carapace in Monster Hunter Wilds
Comaqchi Carapaces are valuable equipment materials in Monster Hunter Wilds, used to craft various armor pieces and a weapon. You can only start harvesting them after reaching High Rank. Most players will likely have reached this rank by the time they need these materials, but if you haven’t yet, focus on progressing through the game. Once you’ve completed the third chapter, you can return to this guide to start collecting Comaqchi Carapaces.
How to Get Comaqchi Carapace
To start farming Comaqchi Carapaces, you first need to unlock the Dream Eaters optional quest. This quest becomes available once you reach Hunter Rank 9 and defeat a High Rank Comaqchi. These creatures may be small, but they are essential for obtaining this valuable material.
Locating High Rank Comaqchi
You can find two High Rank Comaqchi in Area 8 of the Iceshard Cliffs, located just south of the ecosystem’s Base Camp. While the in-game Filter Icons feature can help pinpoint their location, Area 8 has also been marked on the preceding map for added clarity. This should make it easy to track them down without unnecessary searching.
Once you’ve located and taken down a Comaqchi, be sure to carve its carcass. These monsters always drop a Comaqchi Carapace, making them a reliable farming source. Since you’re guaranteed a drop each time, farming them is a straightforward process.
Gathering enough Comaqchi Carapaces will allow you to craft various armor pieces and weapons. If you need more, simply repeat the process by hunting additional High Rank Comaqchi in the same area. With a bit of patience, you’ll have all the materials you need in no time.
Initiating the Dream Eaters Optional Quest
After defeating a Comaqchi, the next step is to speak with Alma, who can be found near any Base Camp’s Tent in Monster Hunter Wilds. She will allow you to post a quest, where you’ll need to select Dream Eaters from the Optional Quests tab. Once you’ve chosen it, simply select Accept & Depart to start the quest and be transported to the Iceshard Cliffs map.
Dream Eaters quest will ask you to kill eight Comaqchi. These creatures can be easily followed on your map as purple diamonds with green spots. To search for them quickly, choose a diamond, mark a waypoint, and have your Seikret’s Auto-move Mode take you there automatically.
To engage Auto-move Mode, push up on the d-pad or utilize the tab key on a keyboard. Your Seikert will then automatically move towards the destination waypoint without further action, providing an easier hunting experience. This feature allows for time saved while traversing the snowy landscape.
Defeating and Carving Comaqchi
When you arrive at the marked location, eliminate the Comaqchi and any others in the area. Be sure to carve their carcasses, as each one has a chance to drop Comaqchi Carapaces. These materials are essential for crafting armor and weapons, so collecting as many as possible is beneficial.
After finishing with one Comaqchi, open your map again, set a waypoint on another purple diamond with a green dot, and use Auto-move Mode to reach it. Repeating this process will allow you to complete the Dream Eaters quest quickly and efficiently.
If you still need more Comaqchi Carapaces after finishing the quest, simply post it again and continue farming. Since the quest is repeatable, you can keep hunting until you have all the materials required for crafting your desired gear.
