Despite its speed, Blangonga isn’t particularly complex, with a fairly straightforward moveset. Its most distinctive trait is its pack mechanic—as long as its fangs remain intact, it can command smaller monsters to assist in battle.
- Ice Breath: Blangonga exhales ice in an arc in front of itself, inflicting Iceblight. This attack isn’t very strong and can be blocked. Alternatively, move to its sides to attack during the long animation.
- Rushing Leap: Blangonga jumps in place before lunging a great distance toward you. It turns to face you after landing. Dodge to the sides, then quickly close the gap while it recovers.
- Arm Swipe/Punch: It rears back an arm and strikes, using either hand. The punch is stronger than the swipe and can be comboed. Blocking works well and can trigger a Power Clash. Dodging sideways is also effective.
- Snow Upheaval: Blangonga digs its hands into the snow and hurls it forward. This move covers a wide area, so it’s safest to stay out of range when you see it preparing.
- Backwards Kick: If you’re behind Blangonga, it kicks backward to knock you down, sometimes following up with a backward leap. This move is easily blocked or avoided by not staying at its rear for too long.
- Dig: Blangonga burrows into the snow and reemerges nearby, targeting a hunter. Using lock-on makes it easier to track and predict its reappearance.
