How to Capture a Doshaguma in Monster Hunter Wild for Forest Doshaguma Quest

The imposing Doshaguma, a powerful creature with a liking for strong ground slams and unexpected agility, is a challenging target for any Monster Hunter in Monster Hunter Wilds. Although commonly found in the Plains, the elusive beast can also be spotted wandering in the depths of the Forest, particularly in High Rank quests. This guide will prepare you with the information required to track, lower, and capture a Doshaguma in the Forest region, with regard to its habitat, vulnerabilities, and successful capture methods.

Doshaguma Location in Monster Hunter Wild

In the early part of the game, you’ll mostly find Doshaguma in the Plains region, even though they also appear in the Forest and Wyveria areas. It’s not until you reach High Rank in Chapter Four that they start showing up in those other regions.

When you’re hunting a Doshaguma, it’s a good idea to create a quest for yourself. This lets you use your scoutflies to track its exact location and follow it easily as it moves from one area to another. In the Forest, Doshaguma typically roam between areas 15, 10, 6, and 7.

How to Capture a Doshaguma in Monster Hunter Wild

Doshaguma has a few special attacks, including a weak roar and a minor tremor, so hunters should be prepared. It is particularly vulnerable to fire and thunder elemental attacks, making weapons and ammo of these types highly effective. Flaming and Thunder Ammo can deal extra damage if the hunter’s weapon is compatible, while Torch Pods and Thunder Pods for the Slinger also help chip away at its health. All status effects work on Doshaguma, but Sleep and Paralysis have proven especially useful. Traps like Flash Pods, Shock Traps, and Pitfall Traps are effective for disorienting the monster and creating openings for attacks.

The environment itself can be a powerful ally using loose boulders, natural vine traps, or even luring Doshaguma into the path of another monster can turn the tide of battle. However, hunters should be cautious not to lead it to another Doshaguma, as they may team up against them. If that happens, Dung Pods or Large Dung Pods can be used to drive away the second monster, allowing the hunter to stay focused on their target. To survive Doshaguma’s fast, powerful attacks, hunters should be well-stocked with Health Potions and even go so far as to grill a meal at safe times for an added surge. Being ready and using weapons, items, and the environment wisely is the secret to defeating this powerful monster.

Attacks of Doshaguma

When fighting a Doshaguma, watch out for its signature move, it’ll rear up on its hind legs, exposing its weak spot, the belly, before slamming its claws into the ground and dragging them back toward itself. If you get caught in those claws, it’s going to hurt. You have a brief window to land a few hits on its belly before it comes crashing down, but only go for it if it’s safe, it’s better to get out of the way than risk taking damage.

Sometimes, instead of using both claws, Doshaguma might just swipe at you with one claw while standing on its hind legs, so stay alert when attacking its belly.

There’s also a variation of its slam attack where it not only strikes the ground but drags its claws toward you as well, so be ready to dodge.

When on all fours, Doshaguma can lift one of its forelegs and swipe at you. This attack is easy to avoid if you dodge as soon as you see a foreleg rising.

Lastly, if you’re standing too close, Doshaguma might lunge at you with its jaws wide open, trying to bite. If you notice it locking eyes with you and creeping closer on all fours, that’s a pretty good sign this attack is coming, so be prepared to move fast.

Weakness of Doshaguma

Doshaguma’s main weak point is its belly, but it’s also possible to break its tail hair and both forelegs. While the belly is the most vulnerable spot, it’s also the hardest to target safely since it’s only fully exposed when the beast rears up on its hind legs to prepare for an attack. Attacking from the sides is an option, though it won’t be as effective as striking head-on.

It is strongly advised to aim for breaking both of Doshaguma’s front legs as early as possible. Not only does it cause heavy damage, but it also hinders the monster’s attack speed and its potential for escape. While not as strong as the weak points stated, attacking Doshaguma’s face will still cause considerable damage.
