MH Wilds Tracktail Lizard Locations Map

In Monster Hunter Wilds, Tracktail Lizards are elusive endemic creatures found in the Windward Plains, primarily in desert regions like Areas 11 and 13. These lizards are crucial for completing the Dareel’s Research Report quest and earning valuable rewards. This guide will help you locate them easily, offering tips on capturing them without scaring them away. Get ready to track these swift, camouflaged critters!

Where to Find the Tracktail Lizards in MH Wilds

Once you reach Chapter 3-1, Born from the Flame, you can find Dareel at the Plains Base Camp. If your objective is to Talk to Rosso, Dareel will be in the tent right behind him. Speaking with Dareel will initiate the Dareel’s Research Report side quest, where hunters are tasked with capturing a Tracktail Lizard.

The best place to find Tracktail Lizards in Monster Hunter Wilds is in the desert region of the Windward Plains, specifically in Area 13, just east of the Oasis. If you’ve set up camp there, reaching the spot will be quick. Otherwise, open your map and set a waypoint to let your Seikret guide you directly to the location.

Once there, you have two options. The first is to enter the cave on the southern side of the Oasis. As you navigate its winding paths, you’ll come across various materials, fishing spots, and campgrounds before emerging at the perfect spot where two Tracktail Lizards can be seen slithering or standing tall on their tails.

If you prefer to skip the cave’s complex network, simply head straight to its exit. Run east of the Oasis and then slightly north as you near Area 16. The rugged walls will soon transition into an underground pathway, and just before the descent into the recess, you’ll spot two Tracktail Lizards.

How to Catch the Tracktail Lizard in MH Wilds

To catch the elusive Tracktail Lizard, simply equip your net from the item bar, aim, and fire. These lizards are usually close together, so a well-placed shot can capture both in one go. However, if you miss, they’ll quickly scurry away, leaving you to wait or search the area until they return.

Tip: To use your Capture Net, equip it from the Item Bar, aim at your target using the left trigger or right stick, then press the right trigger to fire. Once captured, the creature will be sent to the Expedition Command Camp. Plus, there’s no limit—you can use the Capture Net as many times as you like.

Point to Remember: These endemic creatures are native to the Windward Plains, especially its desert regions. Their distinctive tails enable them to sit upright, helping them scan their surroundings or shield themselves from the intense sun. When they rest, their tails leave imprints in the sand, resembling large monster footprints. Tracktail Lizards usually travel in pairs, staying vigilant while engaging in activities like drinking water.

Rewards for Completing the Dareel’s Research Report

Once you report back to Dareel at the Plains home base, you’ll receive 10 Honey and 50 Guild Points as a reward. While it’s not the most thrilling prize, you’ve now mastered using your Capture Net—and you’ve certainly made Dareel’s day!
