In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, your path to the game’s initial wedding can lead you to the seemingly simple Miller Kreyzl. However, his “Opus Magnum” questline quickly reveals him to be more than just a miller, and finding a crucial book for him can be trickier than it first appears. This guide will walk you through the steps of the “Opus Magnum” quest, including how to locate the book, what to do if it disappears from your inventory, and whether or not you should bother with the optional objectives.
How to Start the Quest
Early in the game, you’ll meet Miller Kreyzl at the mill. He’s one of two people who can help you get to the wedding that kicks off the story. But Kreyzl isn’t as simple as he seems. His questline, “Opus Magnum,” is a bit involved, and finding a certain book for him can be a little challenging.
Find the Book for the Miller
To find the Miller’s book in the “Opus Magnum” side quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, you don’t need to follow all the optional objectives. The book is hidden outside Trosky Castle, in the northwest corner, underneath the guardhouse.
Here’s how to get there: Leave the castle through the main gate (the one near the gallows). Then, walk along the narrow path that goes around the castle. Keep going until you reach the cliffs below the guard tower. You’ll find Nikvard’s body there, and tucked away in the corner is the book you need: “Lightbringer’s Secret”.
If you’re working on the “For Whom the Bell Tolls” quest at the same time as “Opus Magnum,” don’t worry! It’s actually better to hold off on “Opus Magnum” until you’ve finished the Trosky Castle quests. You won’t miss out on anything, and you can always come back to it later. While investigating the clues in “Opus Magnum” can be interesting and add to the story, you’re also free to skip all that and go straight to the end of the quest if you prefer.
Opus Magnum Issues
So, you found the Miller’s book, but got caught up in other quests and now he says you don’t have it? Don’t panic! It sounds like the book might have disappeared from your inventory because you progressed the main story too far. Many players have run into this. Even if the quest description changed and doesn’t mention turning it in immediately anymore, the book should still be where you originally found it. Head back to the guardhouse near Trosky Castle, where you found Nikvard’s body. The book, “Lightbringer’s Secret,” should be there again.
