Iron Citadel operation is a difficult level in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 DMZ that will take you through multiple objectives to accomplish at the air base. In this mission, you will have to get an upgraded access card, unlock the armory, kill bosses, and obtain the Armory Manifest. Once you accomplish that, you will have to place explosives in the armory and attack aircraft.
How to Complete Operation Iron Citadel
Your primary goal is to reach the air base and find an access card there. As soon as you open your map, you will find that there are four different places on the map where the card could spawn. But out of these four places, there is just one place from which the access card spawns. However, only one of these locations will have it, so you may need to check all four spots before finding it.
Find the Access Card
When you get to the airbase, locate the card by scanning all of the areas. You need to scan all of the areas one at a time until the progress bar fills up. This scanning may either be successful or unsuccessful; hence, you need to scan the other areas should the first attempt fail.
Secret Bunker Location in MW4 DMZ
There is a secret bunker located close to the airbase where you will be able to pick up some additional loot. In this area, there is a wall that has a gap in it where you can crawl into the compound. You don’t have to go directly into the compound; you can circle the walls to get there because there are fewer enemies.
This bunker holds a weapon case along with some other loot. You may find a weapon that is quite useful for you. Once you have looted the bunker, you can climb the walls to get into the compound. This route has fewer guards, so it can make your approach easier.
Pick Up the Access Card
When the scanning process locates the access card, you will be notified on the map about the location of the card. Proceed to the location where the card can be found and collect it. It is recommended that one player carries the card, as this will help in completing the next step of the mission.
Upgrade the Access Card
Collect the card and then go to the Chongzan Air Base and locate the server room there. In the server room, there will be a panel where you can put the access card to start the upgrade process. The team member who has the card needs to interact with the server panel until the progress bar completes. During the process, many more AI enemies will come, so you have to defend the location. After completing the upgrade process, collect the upgraded access card. You will need it to continue toward the armory.
Find the Armory Doors
Since you are already in possession of the new access card, find the marked locations to get to the armory doors located in Chongzan Air Base. You should be cautious when approaching this location because there are many enemies awaiting you within. This level contains the boss named Lieutenant Bale.
He can survive heavy amounts of attacks, so try not to stay uncovered for too long. Get as many headshots as possible and attack him only when he is defenseless. After defeating Lieutenant Bale, keep moving ahead and jump over the boxes in order to find the armory door. However, the door will be locked and needs a code to open it.
Find the Armory Keycode
To open the armory, you need to collect three pages that have the code split up. Use your map to locate the three designated points where the pages with the code will be found. Divide your team so that it is easier to gather the portions quickly. Gather all the numbers required for the code at the different portions. Then go back to the door of the armory and input the code.
Explore the Armory
Once you have entered the room, get ready to face yet another boss. You may ask your fellow team member to distract him while the other members of the team attack from a safe distance. Keep on moving back and forth from cover and do not let the boss concentrate on any single player for a long time. Once the room is cleared, search the armory for the manifest.
Collect the Armory Manifest
You need to locate the right crate at the armory, where the Armory Manifest is located. Once you have picked it up, you will have to wait for further instructions from the radio. Your next goal is not going to appear right away; therefore, just stay put for a while.
Plant Explosives in the Armory
Once you receive the radio message, your next objective would be to put some explosives into the armory. You need to follow the objective indicator and then use the designated location to plant the explosives. Once done, walk away from there so that you don’t get hurt because of the explosion. After the explosion, you can move on to the next objective.
Plant Explosives on the Strike Aircraft
Now you have to place some explosives on three strike aircrafts. Use the map to locate each target point. You have to put one explosive on the strike aircraft located in the tunnel, whereas the other two targets will be outside on the airstrip. Go to all three places and use the aircraft to place the explosives. Always remember to check your map after placing each explosive. Make sure you check your map after each placement so you do not miss any targets.
Capture the SAM Site
Once you have planted all the explosive charges, your new target will be to take control of a SAM site. Travel to the indicated place and start taking control of the SAM site. A good tip for this would be to stay in the nearby building itself. The enemies will spawn through the window, giving you the chance to eliminate them while being under the cover of the building itself. But remember to watch out for enemies coming from the back as well.
Exfil the Armory Manifest
The last thing to do is to get to the nearest extraction point. Use the exfil marker that is shown on the map and head there as fast as possible. When you successfully perform extraction, then you will be able to finish Operation Iron Citadel in MW4 DMZ. Don’t forget that your squad should stay united all the time.
