The Witcher 3 Remastered contains countless secrets throughout the game’s initial locations, but some of them may be hard to notice. From missable quests and unique items to hidden rooms, Gwent cards, references, and optional dialogue, White Orchard and Vizima have plenty to discover. Here are 18 fascinating secrets that you could discover throughout the story.
Missable Secrets
In Witcher 3 Remastered, there are eighteen secrets that most players miss in White Orchard. Here’s an easy breakdown of the eighteen secrets:
Silver Monocle

The shack is where the Silver Monocle can be obtained during the Frying Pan, Spick and Span quest. You must understand that everything in the shack is missable since it is locked later in the game.

The Monocle is particularly worth collecting because it is connected to hidden dialogue later in the game. Don’t forget to pick up the burnt papers in the same area too.
Breach Wall

During the prologue, at Kaer Morhen, you can accept Ciri’s invitation to race. This moment will give you the option to move through the courtyard. In the corner of the castle wall’s left side, you will recognize a familiar location if you have played The Witcher 1. The spot in question belongs to Siegfried’s breach.

The beginning of The Witcher 3 is set as a flashback which means that this location happens before the events of the first game. It is quite easy to overlook during the opening section.
Crystal Skull

The Crystal Skull of Yennefer can be found close to the initial location of Geralt and Vesemir. The skull vanishes as soon as the reward for killing the griffin is collected from the Nilfgaard garrison, which means it has to be found beforehand.
Later in the game after finishing The Last Wish, you will be able to return it back to Yennefer in her inn located on Ard Skellig island which leads to more dialogue with Yennefer.
Yennefer’s Belongings

One can find Yennefer’s possessions in the first part of the game. They are located on a battlefield at a crossroads. Another minor detail which can be overlooked when exploring the area.
Zoltan Chivay

Upon arriving at the inn in White Orchard, you will be free to explore the surroundings and talk to the scholar, who is also ready to play Gwent.
You must win against him to receive the Zoltan Chivay card. If you go to Vizima before winning, you will miss your opportunity, as the scholar dies after that. In the past, it was possible to retrieve the card from his corpse, but this does not seem to be true in the remastered version.
Precious Cargo

The Precious Cargo quest can be commenced close to the Nilfgaardian garrison. There isn’t anything extraordinary about the task itself, but it can become inaccessible if players move too far ahead in the story.

If you want to achieve the maximum reward, you should let the guy leave while keeping the medicine box.
Secret Loot

To locate a treasure hidden in Nilfgaard’s garrison, you must enter through the public gate and go to the immediate left. Move through the door and reach the balcony.

Find the opening in the wall and break through it with Aard. Now you can jump onto the piece of the bridge that is still intact and find the treasure chest there. The treasure inside will be random and will be different for each player.
Claer

For additional insights into the disaster that impacted the desolate settlement in the woods, you may wish to consult Tamira, the herbalist in town, regarding Clare and Vullkar.
If you’re already acquainted with The Beast of White Orchard and finished reading The Devil by the Well, then you will also find out more about Vullkar having a spat with the master of estate before he left the palace and took his clan into the woods on the quest to establish a village.
Tamira touches upon Florian, the lord’s son, and explains some comments uttered by him that annoyed his dad. The conversation provides more context for the events surrounding the abandoned village.
On Deaths Bed Quest

During your stay in White Orchard, you may trigger the On Death’s Bed quest. If you progress too far in the game’s storyline, this quest will be missed. The quest results will vary based on whether or not you helped Lena.
Chortle

The cows found close to the Woesong Bridge can also be used to induce a stealth meeting, as you kill the cows, fast travel to a distance, rest for one hour, and return.

You can kill the cows to get cowhides that you can sell. However, killing six cows consecutively will have the Bovine Defense Force come to life, bringing a Level 27 Chort for their protection. More Chorts will appear if you keep killing cows so be careful.
Dune Fingers

During the Missing in Action quest, Dune mentions that he cut off his finger to avoid conscription.

You can see that he really is missing fingers when you check his hand. The battlefield also contains dead bodies with missing fingers, showing that not everyone was able to avoid conscription in the same way.
Lion King

Next to the ransacked village, you can find a young boy with his father. The scene is a reference to The Lion King, with the boy calling out to his father.
Gwent Card

For the Gwent Card, make sure to speak with the Nilfgaardian nobleman who plays Gwent. Doing so gives you the opportunity to obtain the unique leader card, Foltest, the Siege Master. This is another easily missed card if you move through the Royal Palace without speaking with him.
Towel

When you arrive at Vizima, Geralt is wearing a towel and needs to choose an outfit. If you drop the towel on the ground, you can return later and pick it up as a permanent item to wear. If you do not drop it, it disappears from your inventory.
Yennefer’s Portal

After you finish talking with Yennefer in Vizima, she opens a portal. You can actually jump into the portal before Yennefer does. Doing so simply teleports Geralt to a different room.
Ciri Picture

After Yennefer leaves through the portal, you can search her room for several interesting things. Among the items you can find are a letter, a drawing of Ciri, and the White Tiger of the West armor set.
Secret Switch

If you carefully inspect the outer walls of the Royal Palace courtyard, you may notice a suspicious brick. You can use Witcher Sense to get a closer look at the strange brick and interact with it.

Interacting with it opens a hidden chamber with a letter. You can read the letter, which is addressed to Rodri Duet, to learn about the events from the first Witcher game. The letter contains instructions for reactivating Adda’s curse.
Florians Grave

The burial place of Florian can be explored in the cemetery in White Orchard. He was the offspring of the old master, who had fallen in love with the hunter, Mislav. The information presented in his story echoes the devastation that has taken place in the deserted area.

Florian took his own life after being caught with Mislav in the stables by Durer, the large stable hand. His demise happened to be a disgrace and a source of anger for his parents, thus making the events of his death important for understanding the reasons behind the village’s abandonment.
