It’s hard for a civilian to survive Halloween since Michael Myers is chasing after them. Fortunately, there are a number of ways that you can use to escape the map. Some methods involve a few items, while others will need assistance from your team members or even the police force. Here are all seven ways you can escape as a civilian and what you need to do for each one.
All Ways To Escape As A Civilian
As a civilian in the Halloween event, you have many means of getting out of the map and surviving Michael Myers. There are seven different means of escape, and they all vary in terms of how they work. Some are way easier and quicker, and some even require certain items or players to be present in order to work.
1. Storm Cellar
The storm cellars can appear in multiple places throughout the map, and there might even be multiple storm cellars found within a single game. You should expect to find storm cellars in the rear yards of houses most of the time. There are also some found in deserted areas, such as the water tower found close to the edges of the map. If you are lucky, the residents might point you towards the nearest Storm Cellar too.
The conditions required for opening a storm cellar are not always identical, and so you will have to open a storm cellar in slightly different ways in each new game. Some items remain the same, like getting Bolt Cutters or the Escape Key. If you can’t find them on your own, ask the residents to help you find them too. But usually, you will find these items inside drawers or cabinets within the houses.
2. Unlocking Gate
The Gates are located at the extreme corners of the map. If you are struggling to find the gate, then try following the borders of the map and scan all its sides. There can be more than one Gate on the map, though they seem to be fewer in number than the Storm Cellars.
But similar to Storm Cellars, Gates will require an Escape Key or Bolt Cutters. If the gate is barricaded, then only a gun will break the wooden planks. But not all gates are the same, and some can be opened without any equipment.
There is one particular gate type that you might also encounter in your run, called the Fuse Gate. These gates will require a Fuse found inside houses. This could take some time, so you are better off finding some other means of escape.
3. Broken-Down Car
A third way out is through repairing a disabled vehicle, which is arguably one of the hardest things to do because there are many components that will need to be fixed for it to be usable. To repair a car, you will need a Gas Tank, Repair Kit, and Sedan Keys.
- Gas Tanks can be located in garages, sheds, and in open spaces. The Gas Tank should be put in your primary-hand weapons slot, and once that is done, interact with the back of the car to refuel it.
- The Repair Kit can be located in any lootable containers, such as cabinets and drawers. When you have acquired one, interact with the hood of the car to repair its engine.
- Lastly, you will need Sedan Keys. They can be located in residents’ houses, and there are many of them available throughout the map.
Now, when the car is prepared, get into it and start driving. There are a few risks while making your escape in a car. For one, using a car will end the match for you. This can be a problem if there are still residents that need rescuing. Michael also has the ability to black out the car, hence giving him the chance to break or destroy it. Trying to run Michael over isn’t much safer either, as he can stop the car and deal heavy damage to it.
4. Police Car
Police vehicles may spawn if people call the police. If the police have arrived at the location, and if Michael eliminates them, one of them might drop the Police Car Keys. The keys can only open the particular police car that goes with the police. It differs from the Sedan Keys, which can open the cars of the same class wherever they are found.
The police cars normally have two police members who go with the car, so you might wait until Michael eliminates them to get the keys. Like the usual vehicle, the police car can be stopped by the blackout. The police car can also sustain heavy damage if you run over Michael while in the vehicle. Once in the car, an escape icon will guide you on which path you should follow to escape the map.
5. Police Wagon
The Police Wagon is one of the easiest and most popular escape methods in most matches. In order for the police to arrive at your location, you should get people to call the police or call the police yourself. Every single phone call increases the number of police badges that you have, and the more badges there are, the greater the number of police officers arriving.
At some point, if an officer discovers a body, this can also cause them to call in the Police Wagon. There is a timer located in the upper right corner of the screen and usually it is about six minutes for the Police Wagon to arrive. Once you spot the wagon, try escorting all the residents towards it. Be careful, if Michael catches wind of your escape, he can easily intercept residents and predict where they’re heading.
6. Arrest Michael
This technique is perhaps the hardest one. Instead of escaping from Michael, you will be able to arrest him. To do this, you will have to switch to the role of police reinforcements or Dr Loomis.
- To become Dr. Loomis, you need to die and pass mini-games during the spectating window. You can also become Dr. Loomis by interacting with the radio. The radio spawns on the map after the first member of your team is killed.
- To become a police officer, this entirely depends on luck and going through several respawn rounds in the game.
Once you get your turn as either the police or Dr. Loomis, try staying near Michael in order to fill the handcuffs meter. Do this until a rainbow border appears around the handcuffs icon. It gets easier if multiple residents are there to distract and assault Michael, giving you a better chance to start the process. During the arrest, pass the minigame that appears so that you can place the handcuffs on Michael and win.
7. Survive the Night
However, there is no need for an escape every time, since just by surviving, you also have an escape strategy. It will come in handy when you cannot find the objects necessary for escaping or an exit, and Michael is camping near all of them.
The task here is rather straightforward: live until the end of the match. Hide your survivors, conceal yourself and make as little noise as possible. By doing so, not only will you be scoring points for your team, but Michael will not be able to score either.
