There are 8 mysteries that you have to uncover around Kyoto, and once you have completed them all, you will earn the Demystified trophy/achievement. You might be able to get most of these quests while progressing through the story mode. In this guide, we’ll show you the location of every mystery and explain how to complete each one.
All Mysteries of Kyoto Locations
There are eight Kyoto Mysteries in Onimusha: Way of the Sword. You must find all of them to get the Demystified trophy/achievement. However, you won’t be able to find these mysteries right away. They become available after you complete the “What Lurks in the Shadows” mission. After unlocking them, the starting points for each mystery will be indicated on the map through a butterfly symbol. All you have to do is go to the point and solve the mystery.
Mystery 1 – The Light of Vengeance
The Light of Vengeance, unlocks automatically when Mysteries become available and is found on the Temple Grounds near the lantern path south of the main courtyard. There, you will find a child standing on the road. Talk with the child and follow the markers to complete the quest. Completing the quest will reward you with:
- 2x Malicite
- 2x Malicite Mass
- 2x Whetstone
- 1x Tempered Iron
Mystery 2 – A Wife’s Prayer
A Wife’s Prayer unlocks after completing the mission “Bloodbath on the Bridge” and rests along Pagoda Alley near the shrine steps behind the main hall. After taking the mission, go to the Kiyomizu-Dera Temple and follow the markers. Completing this quest will reward you with:
- 2X Iron
- 1X Cotton Cloth
- 2X Power Stone
Mystery 3 – Something in the Water
Something in the Water opens up after the mission “A Tempest at the Temple” and requires inspecting the small bridge area near the Otowa Waterfall Lower Stream. You need to complete the objectives by following the markers. After completing the quest you will be rewarded with:
- 2X Iron
- 1X Leather
- 2X Oni Stone
- 1X New Charm
Mystery 4 – The Blessed Man
The Blessed Man is available as soon as Mysteries unlock, located in the southern alleyways of the Central Market Alley. You need to follow the markers and then defeat the enemies to complete the quest. After completing the quest, you will be rewarded with:
- 2X Leather
- 1X Fine Silk Cloth
- 1X New Charm
Mystery 5 – The Night Parade
The Night Parade appears along the main road leading toward Mount Oe at the Eastern Gate Intersection. You will need to defeat the enemies by following the quest markers. After completing the quest you will get:
- 2X Iron
- 2X Leather
- 2X Power Stone
- 1X New Charm
Mystery 6 – The Faceless
The Faceless sits near an abandoned house behind the shrine in the Northern Residential District. It unlocks after completing “The Demon on the Mount”. Follow the markers to complete the quest. You will be rewarded with:
- 2X Iron
- 2X Leather
- 2X Power Stone
- 1X New Charm
Mystery 7 – The Three Worms
The Three Worms is along the stone wall path near the western gate at the Kennin-ji Approach. Completing “The Demon on the Mount” unlocks this quest. You need to follow the markers and defeat the enemies to complete the quest. Completing the quest will reward you with:
- 2X Whetstone
- 2X Oni Stone
- 1X New Charm
Mystery 8 – Hanging Monkeys
Hanging Monkeys is tucked under the wooden overhang near the river dock at the Southern Riverside. It unlocks after completing “The Demon on the Mount”. Completing this quest will reward you with:
- 2X Whetsone
- 1X Iron
- 2X Tempered Iron
- 1X New Charm
