Hardwood is a very useful crafting resource in Palworld 1.0, which you will have to use starting from the middle of the game. This resource is needed for creating advanced structures, gear, and important base resources. Although this resource can be obtained only in particular high-tier locations, there are several ways of easily acquiring this resource or generating it automatically. In this guide, we’ll show you the best locations to find Hardwood, the fastest ways to farm it, and how to keep your storage full without spending hours gathering it manually.

How To Get Hardwood In Palworld 1.0

Hardwood is one of the most important items that you will require when you progress into mid-game in Palworld. This item allows you to build many new buildings and structures as well as craft many new recipes. You should therefore start gathering this item right away. Hardwood is located in the Blossom Tree biome. The Hardwood trees in this biome yield the item when chopped with an axe or plasma multicutter.

    Twilight Dunes

It is very easy to find Hardwood trees; all you have to do is go into places where there are enemies Level 30 and above. If you are not sure whether the trees will drop Hardwood, simply strike the tree with your axe. If Hardwood drops, you’ve found the right trees. One of the most common locations to get Hardwood is the Twilight Dunes, which is the desert that lies west of the Anubis Alpha (-129,-80).

    Dancing Sakura Shrine

Once you have better equipment and a good Pal for your battles, you can then explore the hills surrounding the Dancing Sakura Shrine located in the northwest. This is found on the same island as the Moonflower Tower (-603, 214). The area has lots of cherry blossom trees which give you Hardwood once chopped down. The Pals are more powerful compared to those from the Twilight Dunes, although they are widely scattered so you do not need to fight all the time.

    Sakurajima Island

If you’re looking for an easy place to farm Hardwood, head to Sakurajima Island in the northwest corner of the map. A great location to fast-travel to would be the Secluded Cemetery, which can be found at (-668, 266). In that area, there are many cherry blossom trees which will give hardwood after they are cut using an axe.

    Scorched Ashlands

The Scorched Ashlands (-94, 300) in the bottom part of the map are another location where Hardwood can be found. This, however, is the most difficult area to access, as you will require a Flying Pal to access it. Fewer trees can also be found here than in the other areas used for farming, making it less ideal if all you want to collect is hardwood. Still, it is better to collect Hardwood if you have to explore the Floating Islands anyway.

    Best Ways To Farm Hardwood

A much better long-term option is to build a second base near an area with lots of Hardwood trees. Set up the basics, including:

    • A food source
    • A Feed Box
    • Beds for your Pals
    • A Hot Spring to keep them happy
    • A Storage Chest for Hardwood

Then assign Pals with the Lumbering ability to the base. They will automatically cut down any Hardwood trees that respawn near them. In case you have unlocked the Guild Chest by Level 40, you can retrieve the Hardwood from your main base without having to travel back.

    Use Logging Site II

The easiest and most reliable method is to build Logging Site II, which unlocks at Technology Level 43. Once built, it provides an unlimited source of Hardwood right inside your base. To craft it, you’ll need:

    • Hardwood ×100
    • Stone ×50
    • Paldium Fragments ×20

Once placed, your pals equipped with the Lumbering skill will start collecting Hardwood whenever they have no other tasks assigned. Note that it is much slower to collect Hardwood from the Logging Site II compared to cutting trees manually. But it operates constantly, which makes it a great choice for collecting your resources over time. It should be noted that not more than three pals can work on the Logging Site II simultaneously. In order to generate more Hardwood, just place more such sites.

Best Pals In Logging Site II

One of the best Pals for this job is Celesdir Noct, which has Level 8 Lumbering. This particular Pal can be found in the World Tree biome, near the boss arena. Once assigned to Logging Site II, it can gather Hardwood quickly, making it one of the best choices for automatic farming.

Celesdir is one of the best Pals for gathering Hardwood in Palworld because it has very high Lumbering ability. At start, it has a Level 7 Lumbering skill, which is enough for end-game lumbering buildings. When upgraded to 4 Stars, it gains a Level 10 Lumbering skill, which is even more useful for automated Hardwood collection. However, when it comes to other Work Suitabilities, Celesdir is not very good at anything else besides Lumbering.

    Other Ways to Get Hardwood

Hardwood is a unique form of wood material available only in high-tier locations. In order to obtain Hardwood, you need to assign a Level 6 Lumbering Pal to work at the Ancient Material Synthesizer. The Pal will then automatically yield Hardwood as it works, making it easier to gather this resource.

However, in case you do not want to farm for it, you can simply purchase Hardwood from the Wandering Merchant located at the Small Settlement. One unit costs 100 Gold each, and the settlement has quick travel points, so visiting the merchant is fast and easy.

Hardwood can also be obtained from defeating or capturing Mossanda, Wumpo Botan, and Palumba, as these have the ability to give out Hardwood. But again, this does not happen all the time, and therefore you will have to defeat or capture many such Pals to collect any Hardwood at all. In fact, it is easier to farm for trees than to try to get Hardwood in any other manner.
