The Lurker’s Bite is easily one of the best early game one-handed swords which deals 21 edge damage but to be able to equip it, you’re going to need 15 strength stats. You’ll find it hidden inside a cave, located behind the river inside the New Camp. The cave is pitch dark, carry a torch with you. This guide shows how to get to the cave and get the Lurker’s Bite sword.
Hidden Cave Location
Just past the New Camp’s entrance, you’ll be able to notice a bandit who is chopping wooden logs. If you look behind him, there’s a river and we need to swim across the river to reach the hidden cave.
Swim across the river towards the marked area and go through the narrow space between rocks and the hidden cave’s entrance should be visible as shown in the second image. The cave is pitch dark, carry a torch with you before entering the cave otherwise you have to navigate the cave blind.
Inscription Station
Inside the cave, you’ll come across an Inscription Station. It is used to learn magic spells, it’s not useful to us yet in the early game, but remember the spot for future references.
Lurker’s Bite Sword
To the right of the inscription station, there is a hidden chest located. Loot the chest to get the Lurker’s Bite one handed sword along with feathers and 10 ores. If your character has 15 strength stats, you should be able to use the sword. If you don’t meet the strength requirement yet, consider stashing the sword.
Keep the Inscription Station in mind – you can come back later to learn spells. And always stash unused quality loot inside a chest because in Gothic 1 enemies are ruthless, they defeat you and loot your items.
