The New Camp is located far west of the colony and the path to the camp is occupied by creatures. The new camp is a faction of mercenaries, bandits and water mages who left the Old Camp. To reach the camp reliably and safely, you can take help of Drax, a hunter found near the old camp. If you find and return Drax’s hunting knife, he’ll escort you to the new camp while also killing any creatures you come across while travelling. This guide shows where exactly you can find Drax’s hunting knife, how to find Drax and reach the New Camp safely.
Drax’s Hunting Knife Location
After you’re thrown into the valley, Bullit and his men from the Old Camp will approach you and will be interrupted by Diego. Gather information about the colony from Diego and follow the path to the right.
Obtaining a Sword
Along the way, you’ll come across an old bridge. On the right side of the bridge, you’ll find a rusty sword that you can equip and fight the creatures.
Also keep an eye out for cooking pans, you can use them to cook meat that you’ve obtained from killing creatures. Cooked meat can be used to replenish health points.
If you keep following the path, you’ll eventually come across a broken cart to your left as shown in the above image. To the right side from the cart’s location, you’ll come across scavengers, kill the scavengers to clear the area. Further inside the area past the skeleton, you’ll find a Hunter’s Knife.
Drax’s Hangout
Then continue down the path until you see 2 people, Ratford and Drax. Drax is the person who is practicing archery.
Speak with Drax and hand over his hunting knife, he’ll thank you for returning his hunting knife and give you a bow as a token of appreciation. You can also learn more about scavengers by offering him a beer.
Reaching the New Camp
Throughout the conversation, you’ll get a dialog option to get to the New Camp. Drax will escort you and show you the way to New Camp while also dealing with the creatures along the way. You can aid him in fighting the creatures or just follow him while he does all the fighting, no matter what you choose – you still obtain xp for killing the creatures. Although there’s an instance where Drax will be killed by these creatures and you have to find your own way to the New Camp, I recommend at least aiding him with range support in fights using the bow he gave you. After you reach the camp, Drax will go back to his hangout and you can start exploring the New Camp.
