Improved Fins are one of the best movement upgrades you can get early in Subnautica 2. They increase your swimming speed, allowing you to explore larger areas faster and return to safety more quickly when oxygen is running low. To unlock them, you will need to find and scan three Improved Fins fragments. In this guide, we will show you where to find all three fragments and the materials needed to craft the Improved Fins once the blueprint is unlocked.
How To Get Improved Fins
In order to get the blueprint, you will need to scan three Improved Fins fragments. After scanning all three fragments, the blueprint for Improved Fins will be unlocked. With the blueprint unlocked, you will be able to craft Improved Fins with the help of the Fabricator. In order to craft the items, you will require a pair of Basic Fins, one Fibre Mesh, and one Conduit Crystal. After gathering these materials, simply use the Fabricator to combine them and create the Improved Fins. This upgrade increases your swimming speed, allowing you to travel through the ocean more quickly and making exploration much more efficient.
Fragment 1

Leave your Lifepod and move to the east to find the huge alien tower. Nearby this tower, you should find a deserted platform. You don’t have to get onto the platform; rather, you should dive under it and look for the fragment in the nearby areas. The first fragment of Improved Fins will be located under the deserted platform. Look around the seafloor and nearby debris until you spot the fragment, then scan it with your Scanner.
Fragment 2

The second fragment is quite close to the first one. Swim down the tunnel in front of you, then head forward. The fragment will be lying within a basket. Scan it to add more progress toward unlocking the blueprint.
Fragment 3

For the final piece, swim in the northeast direction from the second point. Swim straight until you come across an alien construction where the third piece of Improved Fins is located. Remember that this place is beyond 250 meters deep.
