Unlocking the Heat Tolerance Adaptation in Subnautica 2 is important if you want to explore some of the hotter and more dangerous areas in the game. However, the process can feel confusing since the objective isn’t clearly explained and the area is filled with enemies and hidden roots. In this guide, we will show you how to unlock the Heat Tolerance adaptation in Subnautica 2.
How To Unlock Heat Tolerance Adaptation
You will need to unlock Heat Tolerance Adaptation to access certain areas in the game, and the process can be a little confusing if you don’t know where to go. Starting from the lifepod, head toward the northwestern side of the map. On the way, you can use a jet stream to move faster. Enter the large room with plants and growths. To unlock the adaptation, you need to clear out two different root sections first.
Clearing First Root Section

Start with the first section nearby. As you explore, watch out for the small fish enemies around the area. Move around the roots and destroy the glowing flowers attached to them. There are three flowers hidden around this first plant, so check carefully, including underneath the roots. As you clear them, you will notice the infected area slowly turning blue, showing that the corruption is disappearing.

After finishing the first section, head back to the main room. If you have the Scuttle upgrade, crossing this area will be much easier since there are a lot of enemies nearby. Otherwise, stay low, keep moving, and dodge attacks as you go.
Clearing Second Root Section

Now head toward the southern side of the area. There’s another root section here with three more flowers that need to be destroyed. This part is slightly bigger, so you may need to swim around and under the roots to find the final flower.

Once both root sections are completely cleared, the flowers in the main room will finally open up. Return there and destroy the remaining flowers while avoiding the enemies around you. The last flower is located at the very top. After destroying it, you will unlock the Heat Tolerance adaptation in Subnautica 2.
