To Dust You Shan’t Return Quest Guide – Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

To Dust You Shan’t Return is one of the story quests in the Mysteria Ecclesiae DLC for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. In this quest, Henry continues to investigate the mysterious illness spreading through the monastery. What starts as a simple search for answers soon uncovers dark secrets, forbidden experiments, and betrayal among those meant to heal the sick. This guide will walk you through every step from finding clues and questioning monks to confronting Zacharias and uncovering the truth behind the tragedy.

To Dust You Shan’t Return Quest Guide

Head over to the group of buildings west of the monastery. Your goal is to get inside the barn, but the door is locked with a hard lock, so you’ll need to find another way in. The easiest method is to pickpocket the nearby guard and get the key from him. Once you’ve unlocked the door and gone inside, you’ll discover two bodies. Check everything you can and go through all the possible interactions. After that, head back to Albich in the infirmary and talk to him. Make sure to go through every dialogue option to share everything you found.

Meeting with Monk Elijah

Head to the south-west wing of the monastery and go upstairs to the monks’ living quarters. You’re supposed to talk to monk Elijah, but he’s not there. Ask around and talk to the other monks eventually, and one of them will tell you that Elijah is down in the cellar. You can reach the cellar through the kitchen. Once you find Elijah, you’ll see he’s completely drunk and refuses to talk. To sober him up, go back to the kitchen and grab a Strong Broth, then return to the cellar and give it to him. Talk to Elijah and go through all the dialogue options. No matter what choices you make, he’ll eventually tell you everything you need to know. Before you leave, he’ll also hand you the Lost Key.

Examining the Clues

Make your way to the south-west of the monastery. It’s best to approach the area from the north side, which leads you into a yard where you’ll see a burned-down barn. Once you’re there, start looking around for clues. You’ll spot wine spilt in the mud near the gate, a torch lying in the water, and a piece of cloth and a boot in front of the burned barn.

Next, head to the locked-off area just east of the burned barn. You’ll need to check a few more clues here. Start by examining the drag marks in the mud outside the barn door, then take a look at the sewage canal nearby. Walk through the sewage and climb out on the left side. You’ll find a cart near some rose bushes that you should inspect as well. To move forward, you can either climb up to the shed and drop down on the other side or simply lockpick the gate to get through.

Going to the Herbalist’s Hut

Head inside the Herbalist’s hut, which will automatically trigger a cutscene. During it, you’ll learn the truth that Zacharias and his bodyguard, Denes, have been forcing the herbalist to perform cruel experiments on two sick people. It turns out Zacharias was jealous of Albich and wanted to take all the credit for discovering a cure for the illness.

As you listen in on their argument, Denes suddenly stabs the herbalist to silence him for good. Unfortunately, you’re spotted right after, and this leads straight into a fight. After defeating Denes in the duel, head back to Albich’s room in the infirmary. As soon as you get close, a cutscene will play automatically, but sadly, you arrive too late. Zacharias has already poisoned Albich.

Completing the Quest

Once the scene ends, you’ll get to talk to Zacharias. Don’t worry too much about your dialogue choices here. No matter what you say, whether you try to bluff about the relic or insist on helping Albich yourself, the outcome is always the same. Zacharias tells you he wants to make a deal: he’ll give you the antidote only if you bring him both the relic and Wenceslas’s medical records.
