The In Pursuit of Purloined Propaganda quest in The Outer Worlds 2 is at first a simple collectible mission, but it ends up offering a sharp look at Arcadia’s divided loyalties and corporate spin. Your job is to track down a batch of stolen magazines, the Science Adventures Quarterly, that have somehow made their way into the hands of everyday colonists. Recovery of each issue gets you one step closer to uncovering who’s been spreading this material and why.
This guide will walk you through how to begin the quest, where to find each issue, and what rewards you’ll earn along the way.
How to Start “In Pursuit of Purloined Propaganda”
You’ll automatically start this collectible quest when you pick up your first copy of Science Adventures Quarterly. There are a total of ten issues, which are scattered throughout Arcadia. When you find one, it triggers the quest and starts tracking your progress.
Science Adventures Quarterly Locations
Volume 1
In Westport, find a home on the northwest side of the flooded area. Inside, you’ll find the first issue resting on a bed.
Volume 2
Head to southern Paradise Island in Eden. From the landing pad, head south past Crabble Farm until you reach an unmarked substation. Climb up onto the porch to find Volume 2 lying there.
Volume 3
Found on a small table next to a broken door northwest of Fairfield, along the coast.
Volume 4
Search the dock southeast of the Vox Relay. You’ll see this issue placed on a table overlooking the water.
Volume 5
Head to a farm that’s slightly northwest of Fairfield. In one of the smaller buildings, you can find Volume 5 on a table beside a bed.
Volume 6
Starting from the Paradise Island landing pad, go northeast and follow the shoreline as it curves to the right. You’ll come across a fishing shack built atop the water. Enter inside and you’ll find Volume 6 sitting on one of the beds.
Volume 7
Travel west from the Vox Relay to a small farming settlement. Head inside the smaller house and find Volume 7 on a desk.
Volume 8
Head to the Crabbing Tower on the west side of Paradise Island. From the helipad, take the south path clockwise around the island to its end. Enter through the porch and climb the ladder to the room on the top. Volume 8 is inside on a table.
Volume 9
Head south of Sovereign’s Sweet Spire Grove to a small building with a side entrance. Kill the three Juvenile Raptidons that charge you upon entering and collect Volume 9 from the bed inside.
Volume 10
It sits on a small table beside a chair on the deck overlooking the northwestern coast of Paradise Island.
Finding Redactor Quesnel
Once you’ve started collecting the magazines, you’ll eventually be referred to Redactor Quesnel, who resides to the west of Fairfield, on the way toward the Ministry of Accuracy. Speak with her and turn over any issue you’ve found. She’ll tell you that someone’s stolen an entire shipment of Science Adventures Quarterly from her and scattered it all over the island. Quesnel will ask you to find all ten issues for her in exchange for “oddities” and a tidy bit of cash.
