Metal Slime in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake
Iconic to any Dragon Quest game, Metal Slimes are one of the iconic monsters. They have a metallic body and are resistant to magic. After defeating one of these tricky creatures, your character will get a serious experience boost. But be fast enough before the creature runs away. With one single metal slime, you can expect to earn 4,140 experience points, way more than any other monster you’d get at this stage of the game.
Metal Slimes are prized by players for their ability to drop Seeds of Agility, a rare item that can significantly boost a character’s speed and reflexes. These elusive creatures are weak to no attacks but are resistant to most physical attacks, Frizzle, Sizz, Bang, Crack and Woosh. They have a couple of spells: “Oomph” to double an ally’s attack power, and “Frizzle” to deal 80 damage to an enemy.

For instance, a Life Acorn is located at the central cross on the church floor, while a Pachisi Ticket and a Mini Medal can be found in pots on the second floor of the market.
2. Fifer’s Spire
To reach Fifer’s Spire, travel east from Reeve by ship, then head north along the land. The recommended level for this dungeon is 22-23.
3. Persistence
To get to Persistence, head west from Portoga, then follow the river north to reach the town. No key is required to enter. Once you’ve got your ship and are free to explore the seas, you can hunt for Metal Slimes. These rare creatures can be found in the woods on the islands and peninsulas near the town of Persistence, located in the center of the northeastern continent.
4. Lanson
Lanson is located to the south of Baharata, and you can reach it by sailing south from there. Once in Lanson, there are a few items to collect. While in Lanson, it’s recommended to purchase a Hide Herb from the item shop, as it’s required to enter Edinbear.
5. Wayfarer’s Chapel
The Wayfarer’s Chapel can be accessed by warping directly from the Teleportal Shrine. However, there are no shops or items to find here. If you’re looking to continue your journey, you can use the Final Key to move on and head straight to Samanao.
6. Tower of Transcendence
The Tower of Transcendence is an optional dungeon in Dragon Quest III, located to the north of Alltrades Abbey.
7. Rimuldar
The fastest way to level up is by defeating Liquid Metal Slimes in Rimuldar. These slimes can give you a massive 40,200 experience points each, so you’ll level up quickly as you fight them.
8. Oceans and Rivers
- Theddon: Theddon is a town located south of the Shrine across Portoga. You can reach it by sailing south from Portoga. In Theddon, you’ll find several items and useful equipment, but no key is required to access the town itself.
- Jipang: To reach Jipang, sail north from Reeve by boat—no key is required. Once there, you can find a variety of items throughout the town. Alternatively, you can head east from the city and look for a cave in the rocks. While Metal Slimes are rare here, it’s still a great spot to farm experience points.
- Greenlad: Greenlad is located in the plains of the ice continent and can be reached by sailing south from the Pirate’s House.
- Olivia’s Promontory: Olivia’s Promontory can be reached by sailing south from Noaniels via boat.
